This guide shows players how they can find the 13 gems hidden in Luigi’s Mansion 2′s Treacherous Mansion location. Timed minigames are a big part of this level, so players might have to give it a go more than once. Thankfully, all gems can be found within the first three levels.
How to Find All Treacherous Mansion Gems in Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD
While the Treacherous Mansion is the hardest map in Luigi’s Mansion 2, most of its levels consist of taking down hordes of ghosts, minibosses, and the final boss. So, even though gamers will be able to find as many gems on this map as they did on other maps, they are spread across fewer levels. Players will find the first three gemstones on Level E-1, the next four on Level E-2, and the final six on Level E-3. Boos are the only collectibles that players will find on other Treacherous Mansion missions in Luigi’s Mansion 2.
Below, players can check out where to find each gem in Luigi’s Mansion 2‘s Treacherous Mansion map.

Room location |
How to find |
---|---|---|
#1 |
Underground Lab (?) |
After defeating the green and purple ghosts in the Underground Lab, be sure to grab the knight’s helmet on the floor and use it to break the jar on the right side of the room, as it contains the first gemstone available in Treachrous Mansion. Then, use the Poltergust to bring down the gem and grab it. Here, gamers can also find Boolldog, the first Boo in Treacherous Mansion. |
#2 |
Haunted Catacombs (?) |
Interact with the suits of armor in the Haunted Catacombs and follow the direction in which they point their swords. This will lead to a location with a spider web ball (use the Dark Light Device on the frame) and a fire source. Use the suction feature on the Poltergust 5000 to grab the web ball and ignite it. Then, retrace your steps and return to the cobweb on the back wall, containing a gem inside. Light it on fire to free the gem. |
#3 |
Haunted Catacombs (?) |
After collecting the second gem, walk towards the front of the room and then turn right. There is a door here leading to an outer area. The third gem is located on a vine here. |
#4 |
Front Entrance (F1) |
Use the Dark-Light Device on the statue on the right side of the staircase handrail, and then pull the chain with the red ball to gain access to a secret vault. Take down the red ghost inside and then open the vault with Strobulb – the gem is hidden inside. |
#5 |
Restrooms (F1) |
To get access to the left restroom, use the Dark Light Device on the eastern side of the Grand East corridor. Then, pull the red lever using the Poltergust to flush the toilet and get the gem to pop out of it. |
#6 |
Gargoyle Roof (F3) |
When you get into the Ice Age Exhibit, you’ll want to use the Poltergust on the mammoth’s trunk, as it’ll send Luigi flying into the Gargoyle Roof location. Catch the three stars and then place them to complete the constellation above. Here is how to find the three stars in Treacherous Mansion:
Use the left trigger to throw the stars in the direction of the constellation to obtain the gem. |
#7 |
Ancient Exhibit (F1) |
Get the bucket from the Dark Age Exhibit and bring it to the Jungle Exhibit via the portal to fill it with water. Then, after watering the plant here, bring the water-filled bucket to the Ancient Exhibit through the portal. Climb up the ramp with the bucket to feed the plant, and then simply flash it with the Strobulb to extract the gem. |
#8 |
Aviation Exhibit (F2) |
Pull the sandbag on the right side of the room and fight the ghosts. Before leaving, pull the other sandbag to reveal the gem. |
#9 |
Nautical Exhibit (F2) |
Clear the fog in the Nautical Exhibit and activate all portals during E-3. Then, bring a log from the Jungle Exhibit to the Nautical Exhibit. Drop it on the lifeguard float to make the wheel of the ship disappear, giving access to a door leading outside. Open the chest in this area to retrieve the next gem. |
#10 |
Dark Age Exhibit (F1) |
After clearing the Nautical Exhibit, use the Poltergust 5000 on the sliding part of the wall to move the portal to the Study. Grab a balloon from the study and bring it to Front Entrance through the portal. Fill it up and float to the bottom right corner of the room. There is a book stuck in the gargoyle’s mouth. Remove it by flashing the Strobulb at the statue and then float back down, as the book will fall to the floor of the Front Entrance below. Grab the book. Bring it to the Dark Age Exhibit and place it on the shelf to receive a gem. |
#11 |
Jungle Exhibit (F2) |
Return to the Study and grab another balloon. Go into the Jungle Exhibit and fly up to the story above. Grab the golden balloon on the left side of the room and collect all of the coins before the music stops playing. Unfortunately, if players aren’t able to collect all of the coins in time, they cannot replay the minigame and will have to do the whole level again to retry it. |
#12 |
Ice Age Exhibit (F1) |
Return to the Study and grab one more balloon. Go through the portals and return to the Ice Age Exhibit. Then, fill the balloon and fly up to the story above. Similarly to before, go to the left side of the room and get the golden balloon. Then, quickly collect the coins as they appear in Luigi’s path. Once again, this challenge is not replayable unless fans replay the entire level. |
#13 |
Train Exhibit (F2) |
After taking down the ghosts in the Train Exhibit and before looking at the train model, use the Dark Light Device on the train tracks to reveal a train. Enter the train and take a ride to receive the gem. |
