With the 1.17.0 update in Grow a Garden, players can cook different items for Chris P. every hour to earn rewards of varying rarities. This NPC is a critter chef who craves one specific meal every 60 minutes, and his cravings reset hourly.
All you need to do is prepare the item by tossing ingredients into the cooking pot. There are almost 12 food cravings Chris P. can have, and each has multiple working recipes. Below is a list of all the tested combinations. Normal recipes can reward anything from Uncommon to Mythical rarity, while Divine and Prismatic versions have a better chance of scoring higher-tier rewards from Chris P.’s Kitchen.
Updated by Somiya Adrees on August 11, 2025: The Cooking Event in Grow a Garden was extended in the latest 1.18.0 update, adding new recipes alongside the original 10. The table below now lists them, and this guide also features a section on using the Cooking Recipes Book.
Just so you know, making the Prismatic recipe of whatever Chris P wants to eat at the moment might change it to Transcendent rarity. If you’re after more points and rare rewards, this trick is worth trying.
Soup is the easiest recipe, you can make it using random items. Even if you have nothing expensive, just dropping Carrots can give you a Very Common Soup.
How to Use the Cooking Recipe Book in Grow a Garden
Since the Connoisseur Event, a new Recipe Book table has been set up near Chris P.’S Kitchen. By interacting with it, you can see the ingredients that go into the food items you’ve already tried.
If you’re not sure whether certain ingredients belong in a specific dish, you can check this table to confirm. For example, Spaghetti is made up of four main parts: Sauce, Pasta, Meat, and Vegetables. Players can use the items listed in each section on the table to make Spaghetti. The results aren’t guaranteed, but it’s still more helpful than guessing from over 140 possible crops.
The Recipe Book only shows meals you’ve already tested in GaG. As you cook new ones, more entries will appear.
Players can still give Chris P. different meals outside his specific cravings. For example, if he’s asking for Cake, you can still hand him Soup, but the rewards might vary. Also, adding bigger fruits not only boosts your chances for better rewards but also increases the size of your meal.
