According to What’s On Netflix, both Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will be removed from Netflix on August 19, being unavailable from then on. These two spinoff shows offered fans of the franchise further stories with some of their beloved characters, with Fear the Walking Dead going on to last for eight seasons as it established itself as a memorable show within its own right. Meanwhile, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon lasted for two seasons, but only the first was available on the streaming platform.

The Walking Dead fans have just over a month to jump into these two spinoff shows either for the first time or on repeat viewing on Netflix. Audiences get to see the likes of Daryl Dixon, Carol Peletier, and Morgan Jones continue their stories within these particular spinoff shows, with these characters branching out and leading their own shows as part of their individual stories, rather than as the core group that people came to know and love within The Walking Dead. Of course, many new characters were also introduced throughout those shows to expand them.

It remains to be seen what the future of these two spinoff shows will be, and whether they will end up finding a home on another platform, as is often the case when a change such as this is made. The Walking Dead original series is available on Disney Plus currently, and having the spinoffs available on that platform would make sense to go alongside that. However, it’s unknown if that’s the plan at this time. There is also always the possibility that they will both end up being back on Netflix at some stage in the future, as it isn’t uncommon to see Netflix strike up new licensing agreements to bring certain television shows and movies back on after a period.

It isn’t all bad news, though, regarding The Walking Dead and Netflix. The Walking Dead: Dead City’s first season was added to the platform earlier this year. Audiences can see the unlikely pairing of Negan and Maggie within that show as they battle for survival in New York City. A second season for that show was released earlier this year, which might end up on Netflix at some stage. While it’s frustrating news for fans of The Walking Dead that these spinoff shows are now less accessible, the franchise’s popularity means it will always be kept alive in some capacity.
