Description

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is currently listed for just $5.99 on both the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store, giving fans of the sci-fi franchise a chance to snag the original trilogy of games for about the same price as a value menu fast food meal. Marking the regular price down by 90 percent, this huge discount on Mass Effect: Legendary Edition won’t be around for long, and Xbox players will have to act particularly fast if they want to take advantage of the savings.

Combining the original three games in the series plus more than 40 DLC packs, plus remastering and optimizing them for presentation in 4K Ultra HD, Mass Effect: Legenday Edition was released in May 2021. The remastered compilation was generally well-received by both fans and critics alike, and the more than 36,000 user reviews on Steam list it with a 91 percent all-time approval rating.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is 90% Off on Consoles for a Limited Time

  • Xbox One: Through September 1
  • PlayStation 5: Through September 10

A few days ago, Sony announced its Ready, Set Play! sale, marking down more than 2,500 games and add-ons, with discounts ranging from 20 percent on the lower end to making games practically free on the high end. Normally priced at $59.99, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is by far receiving one of the biggest price cuts. Players can take advantage of this sale to get the experience of the first three games, but they’ll still have to pay the full $19.99 to access the base game content of Mass Effect Andromeda, the fourth game in the series.

Tali and Shepard

The sci-fi game trilogy is also on sale for the Microsoft Store at the same 90 percent discount, but the offer period is much shorter, set to expire on September 1. Given the high replayability of Mass Effect games, based on the variety of character choices and interactions available, these two sales could give longtime fans on both consoles the chance to dive back into the series’ early days, along with inviting in those who missed these games the first time around.

Geth Dreadnought

As players get a chance to cath up on the sci-fi universe, a report from earlier this year states that Mass Effect 5 is still happening despite layoffs at BioWare. However, executive producer Michael Gamble listed the game as still being in its pre-production stage, so while fans can look forward to a fifth chapter, its finished version is still likely a number of years from seeing the light of day.
