Cats are one of the most popular pets on the planet, so it’s no surprise that there are tons of fictional cats out there across all forms of media. From films to comic books to anime to video games, cats have been represented in a range of ways in fiction, much to the delight of pet lovers everywhere.
Whether they have magical powers, can talk, or are just run-of-the-mill kitties, cats have had a defining impact on pop culture. Plenty of famous fictional cats will be remembered for generations. It’s even less surprising, then, that various fictional cats have been recreated in The Sims 4 so that players can add them to their Sims household. Whether it be as cute sidekicks or snarling, ferocious beasts, cats of all kinds have been an integral part of gaming for decades.
Garfield is one of the most famous cats in fiction, thanks to his dry wit, sarcastic attitude, and his love for a certain Italian pasta dish. Garfield has been around for almost 50 years, first appearing in a comic strip in 1976. He has since been the star of cartoons, movies, books, and even video games.
This Sim version of the chubby ginger Persian tabby cat has been perfectly recreated by Simmer Waterwoman1987. The attention to detail is well done, as Garfield has his signature blonde highlights around his mouth and eyes, as well as the stripes on his back.
Simba and Kovu from The Lion King 1 and 2 might be big cats, but they are still cats, making them eligible for this list. Simba is one of the most popular Disney characters of all time, especially his cub version. At the same time, Kovu is also particularly popular among fans, despite being part of the second Lion King movie, which isn’t quite as iconic as the first film.
These cub Sims are well-crafted, with every little detail included, such as Simba’s black ear tips and Kovu’s dark brown mane tuft. Fans of The Lion King movies are sure to get a kick out of having cub Simba and Kovu running around their Sim’s home as house pets.
Much like Simba and Kovu, Dinah is another Disney cat who has been recreated perfectly in The Sims 4. Dinah appears as Alice’s kitten at the beginning of the animated Disney film Alice in Wonderland, but she doesn’t venture into the realm of Wonderland. She’s still a memorable character, though, thanks to her obscene cuteness.
This Dinah Sim is just as adorable as her on-screen counterpart, as Simmer jenny9915 has remade her excellently. She has the same coloring and coat patterns as well as her large blue eyes.
Luna the cat is the mentor and guardian to Usagi Tsukino, a.k.a. Sailor Moon, in the popular anime series and manga Sailor Moon. Luna has a simple design, but sometimes the simplest designs can be the toughest to get right in Create-A-Pet.
Simmer sorrypoet has managed to recreate Luna’s design incredibly well. The crescent moon on Luna’s forehead is particularly well done, as are her proportions and large eyes, which look much like they do in the anime.
Captain Marvel and The Marvels aren’t the most well-received films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but one thing that most people have agreed on is that alien cat Goose is a highlight.

The MCU has some great easter eggs and some of their best feature throughout The Marvels.
Goose isn’t actually a cat at all. He is an alien species known as a Flerken. This species happens to look just like cats, but they have a mouth full of tentacles and aren’t afraid to use them. While this Sim version of Goose cannot swallow people as he lacks mouth tentacles, he is still very cute and looks just like he does in the Marvel films.
When it comes to some of the most famous Internet memes in history, Nyan Cat is up there, causing a storm when it first appeared online in 2011. The simple yet adorable video of a pixelated cat with a pop-tart body and rainbows emerging from its tail, flying through space as a cheerful tune played, struck a chord with the online world in the 2010s, and the rest was history.
It would be impossible to recreate Nyan Cat completely in The Sims 4, as there are no options to create pop tart feline hybrids (not yet, anyway). However, Simmer Miep_324X has done a great job at painting on the elements of Nyan Cat that make it so unique. From the pop-tart body to the rainbow tail resembling its rainbow trail and even the cute pink cheeks, this is an awesome take on a classic meme and fictional cat.
In the game Persona 5, Morgana is a character who has a cat-like design and a cat form while they are in the human world. However, Morgana is also certain that they aren’t a cat. Due to suffering from memory loss, Morgana is left unsure as to what or who they are (no spoilers here).
However, that aforementioned cat form has been recreated well by Simmer Sobblely. This cat Sim is perfect for those who want to add Morgana’s cute black-coated, blue-eyed cat form to their game as a regular pet, while not having to deal with the sassy backchat that comes with it in Persona 5.
Meowth might not technically be a cat (he’s a Pokémon), but his design is so recognizably cat-like that he gets a free pass for this list. This Meowth Sim fantastically captures the Pokémon’s mischievous nature while nailing his coloring and markings.
The most noteworthy feature of Meowth’s design is the golden coin/pendant on his forehead. Simmer Sorceress360 has drawn this on with the painting feature in Create-A-Pet, and it is particularly accurate to Meowth’s design. The Sim cat also has Meowth’s cream coat, brown back paws, yellow eyes, and black ear tips. The attention to detail is great and makes Meowth an awesome addition to a Sim household for players who want a Pokémon pet in their game.
