Best Titan Throwing Hammer Build in Destiny 2 (2025)
Description
Solar subclasses in Destiny 2 are known for their strong buffs and high healing output, and when it comes to Solar Titans, players can have both of these and more if they build their character properly.
The classic Titan Bonk build in Destiny 2 has seen many iterations since the release of the Throwing Hammer ability, and it just got another version in The Edge of Fate with the release of the Menas Panoplia Exotic armor piece. The following is a build that aims to use Menas Panoplia to its fullest extent while providing players with the damage and survivability they need to survive Destiny 2’s difficult content.

Mint Retrograde is the first of its kind as a Rocket Pulse Rifle in Destiny 2, so here’s how players can get it and the god roll perks to look for.
Destiny 2: Menas Panoplia Hammer Throw Build
- Pros: High burst damage with constant healing and Sun Spot generation.
- Cons: Forgemaster buff requires constant management. Overall DPS also isn’t as good as other Throwing Hammer builds.
Before anything else, it’s important to note that while this is indeed a melee build, it plays more like a grenade build. Menas Panoplia’s perfect recall mechanic locks players in an animation where they cannot fire weapons or use other abilities while their hammer is flying back towards them. This causes a dip in overall DPS, making it unsuited for the traditional Throwing Hammer playstyle used in Synthoceps and Wormgod builds (though it’s much better at dealing with groups.
Think of your hammer as a long-range, target-seeking grenade. It’s excellent for nuking snipers from across the map, and it can deal decent damage against yellow-bar enemies without putting players at risk of dying thanks to the constant Cure and Restoration procs. Keep in mind that retrieving your hammer after it hits an enemy will Cure you — every time you bonk something, perfectly recall your hammer for extra damage in an area and a quick heal when it comes back to you.
So far, this setup has proven effective for solo runs against Portal content with a -20 Power delta (no modifiers) and the Fabled World Tier in Kepler.
This build can also be used in the traditional Throwing Hammer method of chucking the hammer at enemies that are five feet away.
About Menas Panoplia
This Exotic grants you the Forgemaster buff when you pickup a Firesprite or score rapid Solar weapon final blows. While Forgemaster is active, you can recall your Throwing Hammer by pressing your Powered Melee button again. Recalling the hammer at the right time causes it to explode before returning to you. Picking up Firesprites or performing Perfect Recalls extend Forgemaster’s duration.
Destiny 2: Menas Panoplia Build – Armor, Mods, and Stats
For this build, you can use either a full Bulwark for Health or full Brawler Melee. What’s important is that you reach 200 on your preferred main stat and get the other one as high as possible. When choosing which stat to main, consider the following:
- 200 Health gives you stronger Shields. This will give you more time to heal up via Throwing Hammer or Healing Grenade.
- 200 Melee increases your melee damage. This affects both Throwing Hammer impact and the damage dealt by perfect recall explosions.
Pick what you prefer according to your playstyle. However, we recommend 200 Melee if you want to farm Fireteam Ops missions or any Portal activity that allows for difficulty customization. If you pick modifiers that increase damage, Throwing Hammer and the Menas Panoplia explosion will make low-mid difficulty farming a breeze.

Season of Reclamation Artifact Mods
The Artifact for Destiny 2 Season of Reclamation has a number of very good perks for Solar builds. For this one, we will use the following:
- Fever and Chill: Rapid Solar Precision Hits grant Radiant.
- Elemental Daze: Stunning a champion creates an elemental blast matching your weapon. The blast applies elemental debuffs.
- Shoulder to Shoulder: Gain Damage Reduction while allies are near.
- Elemental Coalescence: Defeating enemies has a chance to create an elemental pickup matching your Super element.
- Radiant Shrapnel: Dealing sustained damage while Radiant or defeating a Scorched combatant with a weapon causes the target to release Solar projectiles that damage and Scorch on impact.
- Elemental Overdrive: Picking up a Tangle or elemental pickup increases the damage for weapons that match that element.
Destiny 2: Menas Panoplia Build – Weapons
For this build, use a Solar primary weapon with the Swashbuckler perk for a constant damage buff that stacks with Radiant. You won’t always be using your hammer with this build, so it’ll be nice to have a weapon that can still take enemies out fairly quickly. The Ahab Char in Destiny 2 is a very good weapon for this build.
As for your secondary weapon, you can try use pretty much anything you’d like. A One-Two Punch Shotgun will amplify Throwing Hammer’s damage some more, but if you want something that can complement your primary weapon, then a Rocket Sidearm or the Mint Retrograde Pulse Rifle will do just fine. The same idea applies to your choice of heavy weapon. Use what suits the current situation best.
Aspects and Fragments
- Aspects: Roaring Flames, Sol Invictus
- Fragments: Empyrean, Mercy, Tempering, Benevolence/Solace
Roaring Flames and Sol Invictus are the staples of ability-focused Solar Titan builds in Destiny 2. The former increases Throwing Hammer’s damage, while the latter lets Solar ability kills create Sunspots, which will deal damage over an area and grant you Restoration when touched.
Meanwhile, the Fragments here are all about giving and improving buffs:
- Empyrean lets final blows with Solar weapons and abilities extend the duration of Radiant and Restoration.
- Mercy makes Firesprites give you Restoration when picked up.
- Tempering makes Solar weapons increase your Health and generate Firesprites.
- Benevolence reduces your Grenade, Melee, and Class Ability cooldowns when you apply Solar buffs to allies.
- Solace is a the solo player’s atlernative to Benevolence — it increases the duration of Radiant and Restoration.
