In what could prove to be great news for The Elder Scrolls 6, BioWare veteran John Dombrow has joined Bethesda Game Studios as a Senior Quest Designer. The recent move could see Dombrow employ his talents on The Elder Scrolls 6following a period as a Senior Writer on Sucker Punch Productions’ upcoming title, Ghost of Yotei.
Across two stints at BioWare totaling over 12 years, Dombrow worked on some truly excellent segments. As a Senior Writer on Mass Effect 3, he worked on the iconic Priority: Tuchanka mission, and also wrote the characters of Garrus and Javik. He was the Co-Lead Writer on the game’s Citadel DLC, too, and would later go on to work as the Co-Lead Writer of Mass Effect: Andromeda. More recently, his work saw him take on the role of Senior Narrative Designer on Dragon Age Veilguard, while brief stints elsewhere have allowed Dombrow to addTelltale’s Game of Thrones and Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Yotei to his impressive resume.
BioWare Veteran John Dombrow Joins Bethesda as Senior Quest Designer
Now, as reported by TheGamer, Dombrow has joined Bethesda Game Studios as a Senior Quest Designer. The news was spotted on Dombrow’s LinkedIn page by eagle-eyed Redditor Aggressive_Rope_4201, where his new role as of August 2025 was listed. With development of The Elder Scrolls 6 still ongoing at Bethesda, it’s possible that he will have a big hand in shaping its quests, and Dombrow’s previous experience working on franchises such as Mass Effect and Dragon Age can only be a huge plus.
In more recent years, Bethesda’s writing and quest design has been an area that has come under a lot of scrutiny from players. Some believe that its more recent games like Fallout 4 and Starfield don’t have the same quality as games from decades past, such as Oblivion and Skyrim. Writing is an area where Bethesda has historically excelled, and it’s the same story with quest design. While the job title of Senior Quest Designer suggests that Dombrow won’t be directly involved with writing future Bethesda games, it’s not hard to see how his experience could help in this area regardless.
It has been over seven years since The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced by Bethesda, but the studio has remained very quiet about the project since. The Elder Scrolls 6 is still yet to even reveal its location, despite being rumored to be deep in development at this point. Hopefully it won’t be long before the developer is ready to open up about its long-awaited sequel.
