To solve the Trading Post puzzle, Blue Prince players must understand how each square on the 3×3 grid functions, and align the correct color with the corners. This guide explains the Trading Post puzzle solution and offers a complete walkthrough to solve and open this puzzle box.
Updated August 5, 2025 by Erik Petrovich: Throughout Blue Prince, Mora Jai puzzle boxes can be found hidden in the corners (or just out of sight) in numerous rooms – and even in rooms outside of the manor drafting layout. The Trading Post is one of these rooms that houses a puzzle box, but it’s far from the only place players can find puzzle boxes in Blue Prince. This guide to the Trading Post puzzle box in Blue Prince has been updated to include a full list of every puzzle box solution in the game, as well as links to other Game Rant guides that explain how to solve each of the dozens of other puzzle boxes in Blue Prince. It’s worth tracking down as many of these as you can to solve them and gain a permanent boost to your Allowance, which will enable you to purchase more items from shop rooms and fund Blessings at the Shrine every day.
Where Is The Trading Post Puzzle Box?
The Trading Post puzzle is located in the Trading Post, a unique Outer Room that you can only draft if you have unlocked the West Gate. To unlock the West Gate, you must figure out how to open the Garage Door, which leads to the other side of the gate and allows access to the Outer Room.
The Trading Post is one of many possible floorplans that are unique to the Outer Room. The Trading Post is a place where you can exchange one item for another, but if you look on a bench in the back left corner of this room, you’ll find a peculiar puzzle box.
How To Solve The Trading Post Puzzle
Secret Trading Post Puzzle Box Solution
The Trading Post puzzle takes the form of a small puzzle box that can be found in the back corner of the Trading Post. This innocuous 3×3 grid looks similar to other box puzzles (like the secret Tunnel box puzzle), but each box is different and requires a different approach.
The one thing that is consistent between all Blue Prince puzzle boxes is that you must move a specific color into each of the four corners of the grid. Once you have aligned the required colors correctly, you must click the mountain symbol on each corner to lock in and solve the box puzzle.
In this case, you must move the yellow tiles into each of the four corners.
- If you click the purple tile, the surrounding tiles will rotate.
- If you click the tile above or beneath the purple tile, the purple tile will move into that spot.
- The purple tile cannot move horizontally, it can only move up and down.
- If you click a yellow tile, it will move up one space.
- Yellow tiles cannot move down.
Essentially, your goal with this puzzle is to move a yellow tile into each corner, with the purple tile in one of the middle slots on the outer row so it is out of the way. To solve the Trading Post puzzle, Blue Prince players should follow these steps:
Column 1 |
Column 2 |
Column 3 |

---|---|---|---|
Row 3 |

2-3 |
3-3 |
Row 2 |
1-2 |

3-2 |
Row 1 |
1-1 |
2-1 |
3-1 |
- Click the purple tile (1-3) to rotate the middle yellow tile to the left
- Click the middle left yellow tile (1-2) to swap its position with the purple tile
- Click the bottom middle yellow tile (2-1) to move it into the middle space
- Click the purple tile twice to rotate the two surrounding yellow tiles
- Click the middle yellow tile (2-2) to move it up one space
- Click the purple tile once to rotate the surrounding yellow tiles
- Click the middle yellow tile (2-2) to move it up one space
- Click the purple tile four times to rotate the surrounding yellow tiles
- Click the yellow tile on the middle right (3-2) to move it up one space
- Now that the corner tiles are yellow, click each mountain symbol in the corners of the box to solve the Trading Post puzzle
If you mess up, you can reset the Trading Post puzzle by clicking one of the corner symbols when there is not a yellow tile in that corner. The board will reset back to its default position and arrangement.
Blue Prince Trading Post Puzzle Rewards
As with all puzzle boxes in Blue Prince, the Trading Post puzzle rewards an Allowance token. Allowance is a permanent upgrade that lets Simon start each attempt with a small amount of Gold, left for him in an envelope in the Entrance Hall.
This secret Trading Post puzzle reward will add 2 to your Allowance each day. This extra Gold will be available on your next run, and you cannot backtrack to the Entrance Hall to pick up this money in the same run you complete the puzzle.
