Description

Cronos: The New Dawn puts a player’s survival skills to the test by pitting them against ferocious enemies, tough inventory management systems, and item scarcity. Apart from being dangerous, the enemies can also withstand a lot of damage before finally going down, which puts a major strain on resource management. So, let’s find out if you can change the game’s settings to make it easier, or just have to adapt to the difficulty.

Can You Change the Difficulty of Cronos: The New Dawn?

Cronos The New Dawn Enemy

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to change the difficulty in Cronos: The New Dawn (at the time of writing). The moment players start a new game, they’ll immediately drop into the action and begin their adventure. While this may be a good thing, or at least manageable for hardcore survival game enthusiasts, others might face challenges facing the unforgiving mechanics of the game.

Here are some of the aspects of Cronos: The New Dawn that will make it a challenging experience for most players.

  • Scarce Resources: Ammo and healing items are scarce, and players will have to completely explore an area to find the ammo hidden away off the beaten path. Crafting resources like Chemicals and Metal Scraps are also scarce, which can further limit the ammo and equipment you can fabricate.
  • Inventory Management: Players start the game with six inventory slots, which limit the amount of tools, and ammo they can carry. While the inventory size can be increased with Cores, they’re hard to find, and you will be struggling with inventory management throughout the game.
  • Tough Enemies: Enemies in Cronos: The New Dawn are bullet sponges and tough, which will deplete your ammo resources quickly. There are instances when you’ll be low on ammo and enter a room with a horde of enemies, which can lead to a game-over loop if you don’t know how to dispatch enemies efficiently.

Survival Tips to Make Cronos: The New Dawn Easier

Cronos The New Dawn Targeting Enemies

While Cronos: The New Dawn is a challenging game with no difficulty options, it’s not all doom and gloom. There are some tips and tricks players can use to make some of the tougher aspects of the game manageable. Let’s check some tips for making the game easier below.

  • Aim for the Limbs: Akin to games like Dead Space, players will need to focus their shots on the limbs of enemies to make them fall on the ground. This is a sure way to conserve ammo, while also presenting you with the opportunity to land a few melee hits before retreating to a safe distance.
  • Prioritize Charged Shots: All weapons in Cronos: The New Dawn allow players to charge their shots and deal increased damage. This will allow you to deal the most damage out of each bullet in your ammo reserves.
  • Disrupt Merging: Enemies can merge with corpses lying on the ground, which can make them more tanky, faster, and deadlier. You can stop this from happening by using the flamethrower (tool) to burn the bodies. Alternatively, you can also quickly take out the enemy before the merging is complete.
  • Buy Items as a Last Resort: There’s an option to buy various resources through an in-game terminal, which costs energy. Energy also happens to be a resource to upgrade your weapons. It’s recommended to save up energy and put it towards weapons upgrades. Buy items only as a last resort.
  • Explore Thoroughly: Each level has optional pathways that you can explore to get some additional resources, like healing items, ammo, and upgrade materials from. You should explore a complete level thoroughly before progressing ahead to stock up on crucial survival items.
