A new Dino Crisis merch line has been launched in Japan, prompting many fans of the series to speculate that a remake or new game announcement could soon be on the way from Capcom. Rumors of an upcoming Dino Crisis game have continued to swirl over the past few years, with countless fans hoping to see Capcom breathe new life into its once-beloved survival horror franchise.
In early 2024, Capcom released a survey asking players which franchise they’d like to see revived in the future. Hundreds of thousands of fans responded, with Dino Crisis, Ace Attorney, Mega Man, and Resident Evil coming in at the top. With Resident Evil Requiem recently announced to be hitting shelves in February 2026, players are now focusing on the other series mentioned by the company, paying particular attention to Dino Crisis. The last game in the franchise, Dino Crisis 3, was released for the Xbox in 2003 and didn’t find the same level of acclaim as its predecessors. However, a new title could be just the ticket when it comes to rekindling interest in the unique survival series.
New Dino Crisis Merch Line Released in Japan
As indicated by a new post on ResetEra, a new Dino Crisis merch line has been released in Japan, featuring everything from acrylic figures, keychains, desk mats, stickers, and a hoodie featuring the original game’s logo. The new goodies are currently available until September 12 via a lottery system, meaning that participants can’t choose the item they’ll receive. Given that over 20 years have passed since the last entry, many are hopeful that the sudden release of this merch line is proof that a Dino Crisis return is imminent, though Capcom hasn’t made any official statement just yet.
In 2024, Shinji Mikami, the creator of the series, shared his belief that the success of the Monster Hunter series is preventing Dino Crisis‘ return. Mikami believes that the games are too similar, as both feature dinosaur-like creatures for players to hunt. However, the majority of fans seem to disagree with this sentiment, as the gameplay in Dino Crisis is vastly different and more akin to a proper survival horror title like Resident Evil.
In May, Resident Evil 2 director Hideki Kamiya expressed interest in directing a new Dino Crisis game. Unfortunately, this is somewhat unlikely in the present, as Kamiya is currently hard at work on the Okami sequel. While Capcom hasn’t offered any official statement regarding a potential Dino Crisis sequel or remake, fans continue to provide feedback in the hopes that someday, the developer will deliver.
