As promised last year, Cyberpunk 2077 is set to arrive on macOS on July 17. The past few days have been full of surprises for Cyberpunk 2077 fans, from the announcement of Edgerunners Season Two to the game’s addition to PS Plus Extra and Premium.

Cyberpunk 2077’s next big update is almost here, but its most important play might’ve just happened, and it didn’t cost some players a single eddie.

On July 17, Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on macOS, specifically on Mac devices with Apple Silicon and 16GB or more of unified memory. Long-time fans may remember that the game’s macOS port was revealed in October 2024. There had been no word from CD Projekt Red about the port since then, until this unexpected new announcement. It’s worth noting that the pricing has yet to be revealed, but based on the game’s cost on other platforms, the Mac edition will likely be priced at $80.

Cyberpunk 2077 Comes to Mac on July 17

Fans should note that it’s Cyberpunk 2077‘s Ultimate Edition that’s slated for release on Mac. That means Apple users will get the most complete and polished version of the game, including access to the acclaimed Phantom Liberty expansion. Needless to say, the Ultimate Edition also comes with the 2.1 and 2.2 updates, which add a wealth of new content and critical optimizations.

Most big-budget projects often skip macOS due to the challenges of developing games for Apple devices. However, CD Projekt Red has been committed to bringing its futuristic RPG to the platform since the early days of its release. Cyberpunk 2077 also recently launched on the Nintendo Switch 2, making it one of the most accessible AAA games. Aside from Cyberpunk 2077, one of the few other major releases to target Mac in recent years was Baldur’s Gate 3, which received a positive reception on the platform.

While the addition of Mac to Cyberpunk 2077′s supported platforms is generally good news, many fans seem disappointed by the announcement. It’s not that they don’t want the game on Mac – it’s just that most are eagerly awaiting news on Cyberpunk 2077‘s postponed 2.3 update. There are already hundreds of comments from impatient fans asking the devs about the mysterious patch. However, it seems they’ll have to wait a bit longer, as CDPR is unlikely to reveal much about update 2.3 in the coming days.
