Description

Cyberpunk 2077 launched its anticipated 2.3 update today, and with it, a fresh offering of content for players to enjoy. The main stars of the 2.3 update are vehicles and customization, giving Cyberpunk 2077 fans the chance to explore the high-tech dystopian world how they see fit.

Until recently, it seemed as though developer CD Projekt Red was done with updating Cyberpunk 2077, but that clearly isn’t the case. Thanks to the help of developer Virtuos, Cyberpunk 2077 has continued to expand the world of Night City with 2.3’s handful of upgrades. The sci-fi RPG has evolved a lot since its 2020 launch, and with a sequel planned for the future, there are already plenty of questions regarding what a follow-up will have in store. These questions probably won’t be answered for a while, but Update 2.3 may be a small peek behind the curtain.

Cyberpunk 2077 2.3’s New Vehicles Offer a One-Two Punch for Content

Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.3 update introduces a brand-new roster of vehicles, but there is even more for players to look forward to.

Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.3 Update Likely Guarantees Several Important Features Will Be Present at the Sequel’s Launch

  • A larger roster of vehicles
  • Extensive customization options
  • More in-depth photo mode

These are the three main changes introduced in Update 2.3. In a place like Night City, how a player gets around town is important, and the brand-new roster of cars that 2.3 adds to the original lineup is exciting. Two cars, a motorcycle, and a weaponized truck make up the lineup, and while four vehicles may not seem like a lot, the diversity of each one is what makes them so special, and it’s possible they will be part of the sequel at release. In order to make these cars truly one’s own, 2.3 brings customization front and center. Car customization has been part of Cyberpunk 2077 for a little while now, but 2.3 kicks it up a notch.

Cyberpunk 2077‘s 2.3 update will be added to the Switch 2 later this year.

In addition to the vehicles, Cyberpunk 2077‘s photo mode has been given a shake-up, also allowing more customization. Between 27 new NPCs to spawn into frame and the ability to switch V’s saved outfits, this updated version of the game’s photo mode is likely a blueprint for the next entry.

Essentially, Cyberpunk 2077‘s offering of content after 2.3 is bound to be the standard for the sequel. It would be surprising if Cyberpunk 2 launched without its predecessor’s current lineup of cars and customization right out the gate. Also, now that Cyberpunk 2077 is finally available on Mac, it makes one wonder if that could potentially even be a platform available at the sequel’s launch, as well. Overall, Update 2.3 isn’t necessarily a massive change, but with the combination of new features and a brand-new platform, it’s expanding the game in more ways than one, further setting certain expectations for its successor.

Another important feature that has been added in Update 2.3 is AutoDrive for all cars in Night City.

Cyberpunk 2 is Officially in Full Development

  • CD Projekt Red confirmed in May that Cyberpunk 2 has officially entered pre-production.
  • The sequel was announced back in 2022.

With Cyberpunk 2‘s development kicking off and the recent announcement of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners‘ second season, franchise fans have a lot to look forward to. Of course, it will definitely be a while before fans get both projects, but the promise of them being in the pipeline is an exciting development.

Right now, CD Projekt Red has been focused on The Witcher 4, which makes the arrival of 2.3 that much more surprising. Even though CD Projekt Red had assistance from Virtuos, the former has still been incredibly busy. Because of The Witcher 4‘s production, it would have been completely understandable if Cyberpunk 2077 never got another update, but thanks to Update 2.3, it’s clear that there is still plenty of room for the game to grow.
