Description

Dead by Daylight has featured a long list of great crossovers over the years, but some have stood out more than others. Major horror franchises like Alien and Stranger Things have been huge partnerships for Dead by Daylight, and one in particular was a fun adaptation of a beloved series: Hellraiser.

Over the years, Pinhead has become one of the most iconic villains in the horror genre. From the mind of Clive Barker, Hellraiser‘s torture-filled world made it the perfect crossover for Dead by Daylight, but unfortunately, the collaboration recently met its end. Dead by Daylight removed its Hellraiser content back in April, and while this decision was confusing at first, it now makes more sense, as an official Hellraiser-inspired game has been announced. Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival marks the first official standalone video game adaptation of the horror franchise, and Dead by Daylight players who have been missing Pinhead will want to keep an eye out for its release.

A Single-Player Survival Experience

Obviously, a first-person single-player game is incredibly different from Dead by Daylight‘s third-person asymmetrical formula, but Hellraiser: Revival‘s approach elevates the scares. So, for Hellraiser fans craving something far more intense than Dead by Daylight, Hellraiser: Revival may be the perfect title to scratch that itch.

Developed by Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games, Hellraiser: Revival also features the return of original Pinhead actor Doug Bradley, marking his first time back in the role in almost 20 years. The legacy of Hellraiser has helped define the horror genre, and Hellraiser: Revival is already promising a terrifying, blood-soaked journey through a hellish nightmare.

Hellraiser: Revival’s First Trailer Doesn’t Hold Back

Based on the first trailer announcing the project, Hellraiser: Revival is shaping up to be a wonderfully disgusting ride. The first sneak peek is unapologetically R-rated, and that’s already a promising sign. The Hellraiser franchise has a specific tone, and that’s not exactly easy to nail down. However, if the trailer is any indication, Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games may have pulled it off. Of course, only time will tell, but the first glimpse is worth getting excited about, especially for longtime fans of the series.

Much of Hellraiser: Revival‘s story is still being kept under wraps, but Saber Interactive has revealed a small summary. The official press release states, “Discover the tale of Aidan, who must unlock the dark powers of the Genesis Configuration, a mysterious puzzle box, to help his girlfriend from a hellish abyss.”

When Does Hellraiser: Revival Come Out?

Right now, Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games have yet to reveal an official release date for Hellraiser: Revival, but depending on how far along the production is, a 2026 launch, or even earlier, may be possible. There’s no way to know for sure, but it already looks like there is a lot of work completed based on the trailer. The mind of Clive Barker has brought some of the most terrifying monsters to life. Beyond Hellraiser, stories like Candyman and The Midnight Meat Train have made way for other terrifying and unique stories to be told, and it’s thrilling that Barker consulted on this fresh adaptation of the Hellraiser IP.

Pinhead may not be coming back to Dead by Daylight, but on the bright side, Hellraiser: Revival might be even better news for lovers of this specific terror-filled franchise. Hellraiser is a bold and unique horror universe, making it perfect for a full-blown game adaptation, so those wanting a deeper dive and fresh story will definitely want to be on the lookout for more news on Hellraiser: Revival.
