Dead by Daylight update 9.1.1 is now available for download across PC and consoles. While the new release is largely focused on fixing bugs stemming from the game’s recently debuted The Walking Dead chapter, it also introduces some Dead by Daylight balancing changes.

The Walking Dead-themed Dead by Daylight chapter was originally launched on July 29. It debuted two new survivors, a legendary outfit, and the Fog Vial survivor item, among other novelties. As tends to be the case with major updates for any game, it also introduced some minor issues. Developer Behaviour Interactive is now looking to address those problems with the newly launched 9.1.1 patch, which packs dozens of changes.
Dead by Daylight Receives 10 High-Priority Bug Fixes
Among the highlights of the August 6 patch are solutions for ten high-priority bugs, beginning with a crucial fix for Killers who were unable to initiate chases in Dead by Daylight. Perk malfunctions, animation bugs, and select environment-specific glitches have also been addressed by the new patch. Ditto for some audio issues, including a bug that did not remove The Walking Dead theme from the game’s list of tracks when the Copyrighted Music setting was enabled, creating problems for Dead by Daylight content creators.
Dead by Daylight Nerfs Fog Vial
The 9.1.1 update also re-enables two Dead by Daylight perks: Streetwise and Last Stand. Additionally, it introduces the first set of balancing changes for the recently added Fog Vial item, which decreases visibility and suppresses sounds within its radius. The original version of the Fog Vial cloud had a 40% opacity, which has now been reduced to 33%. Behaviour Interactive also decreased the fog cloud volume by 3 dB, though this change only applies to the ambient fog audio rather than the sound within the Fog Vial cloud’s area of effect.
The Fog Vial nerf extends to Potent Extract (Visceral), one of the five add-ons for this Dead by Daylight item. Specifically, its decreased visibility effect has been halved and now amounts to a 5% bonus as opposed to a 10% one. The add-on’s maximum cloud size (25%) and cloud lifetime (50%) bonuses were left unchanged. Based on these tweaks, it would appear that Behaviour Interactive concluded the original version of Fog Vial was too powerful.
Historical precedent suggests that Dead by Daylight is likely to receive at least one more bug-fixing update before introducing its next major content drop. According to the latest version of the game’s roadmap, a new Killer and Survivor are scheduled for September, followed by another Rift event in October 2025. A new licensed chapter is then expected to debut in November, marking the final major content release of the year.
