With Diablo 4 Season 10 just around the corner, players have a lot of new content to look forward to when the season officially drops. Each Diablo 4 season brings a handful of permanent content available on the Eternal Realm, along with the additions exclusive to the Seasonal Realm, and the Season of Infernal Chaos looks to be no different. However, even with a decent amount of content from Diablo 4 Season 10 being permanent, the one feature that most deserves to stick around after the season ends won’t.
In following the trend of the past few Diablo 4 seasons, the game is reworking some of its major endgame content to revitalize it with new features. Infernal Hordes is the target of Diablo 4 Season 10, and the changes being made to this activity will become a permanent part of the game after the season ends. Alongside this permanent content are seasonal mechanics like Chaos Perks and Chaos Armor to put a twist on the typical buildcrafting of the past, but Diablo 4 would be remiss if it let this type of character-building shake-up fade away after just one season.
The permanent Diablo 4 features coming in Season 10 are more than welcome and address some of the biggest complaints still remaining after 10 seasons. Infernal Hordes should feel like a whole different mode, with Chaos Waves and Bartuc, Lord of Chaos, offering a much more challenging experience. The new Uniques being added in Diablo 4 Season 10 are an expected part of the permanent content coming this season, but Uniques like the Sorcerer’s Galvanic Azurite and the Druid’s Kilt of Blackwing look like they will be game-changers long after the season ends.
Perhaps the most exciting permanent change coming to Diablo 4 in Season 10 is the removal of the invulnerability phase for Lair Bosses. For too long, bosses like Andariel have been a headache to fight because of the mandatory phase, where the boss is immune to damage, while pelting the player with bullet hell-like attacks they must avoid. Now, Diablo 4 players can completely avoid this phase by defeating the boss within 10 seconds before the invulnerability phase has a chance to trigger.
While these permanent changes are necessary and will undoubtedly leave Diablo 4 in a better state than before, Season 10’s best new addition can’t be one-and-done. Chaos Armor flips seasonal buildcrafting on its head by allowing players to use Unique combinations never before possible. Since not every Unique item in Diablo 4 is in the Season 10 Chaos Armor pool, there’s room for the mechanic to return each season with a new pool of Uniques for players to test out in interesting new build combinations. But, with the Chaos Armor mechanic being limited to the Season of Infernal Chaos, this potential may end up squandered.
Although nothing has been officially confirmed, players may not see the end of Chaos Armor when Diablo 4 Season 10 ends. Blizzard has expressed interest in bringing back content from previous Diablo 4 seasons in the future, leaving the door open for Chaos Armor to see new life sometime down the line. While players may have to wait before Chaos Armor returns to Diablo 4, if the feature is popular enough in Season 10, it’s likely that Chaos Armor will be revived in some form in a future Diablo 4 season.
