Description

Deciding which class to play for a new Diablo 4 season is half the battle in itself. Players will need to consider how balance changes and new seasonal additions like unique gear and mechanics affect the meta before committing to a particular build. However, Diablo 4 Season 9 players can find some solace in the fact that one of the game’s best pieces of gear is evergreen and can fit almost any build they are trying to accomplish, even if it may take some work to obtain.

Diablo 4‘s uniques and mythics are some of the rarest gear in the game, but can also be cornerstones for particular builds and are essential for maximizing a class’s potential in any given season. The Sins of the Horadrim season introduces some top-tier uniques like Balazan’s Maxtlatl for the Spiritborn and the Ophidian Iris for the Sorcerer, helping to elevate these classes to the top of Diablo 4‘s Season 9 meta. Even rarer than uniques are Diablo 4‘s mythics, and one universal to all classes is a must-have for Season 9.

Diablo 4 Season 9 may not be the massive overhaul some players had wanted, but it does end up flipping the script on a tradition of past seasons.

The Shroud of False Death Mythic is Essential in Diablo 4 Season 9

Most Diablo 4 Season 9 Builds Can Take Advantage of the Shroud of False Death

The Shroud of False Death is one of Diablo 4‘s best all-around pieces of gear, which is largely due to its versatility as a chest piece equippable by all classes with affixes that benefit nearly every playstyle. These affixes include:

  • +1 to All Passives
  • +160 to All Stats
  • +333% Damage on Next Attack After Entering Stealth
  • +800 Maximum Life
  • 11.1% Resource Generation
  • Unique Affix: If the player hasn’t attacked in the last 2 seconds, they gain Stealth and 40%[+] Movement Speed.

While having blanket boosts to all stats and all passives is extremely useful on its own, the Shroud of False Death’s unique affix is a huge part of its draw as well. Players will have moments between combat engagements where they aren’t attacking, allowing the Shroud of False Death’s unique affix to activate and then grant the player’s next attack 333% increased damage. This is also effective during Diablo 4‘s hardest bosses, where players will have windows when they won’t be attacking, such as while evading the boss’s attacks, so they can periodically re-engage the boss and gain this massive damage boost.

Obtaining the Shroud of False Death May Be Easier Said Than Done

As a mythic chest piece, finding the Shroud of False Death will take a decent chunk of time investment from Diablo 4 players looking to add it to their build. The most effective way to get the Shroud of False Death is to craft it from Diablo 4‘s Jeweler. However, while this method guarantees players will get this specific mythic, it comes with a hefty price tag:

  • Resplendent Spark x2
  • Bac Rune x6
  • Kry Rune x6
  • Moni Rune x6

Resplendent Sparks can be obtained by salvaging other mythics or from defeating the player’s first Uber Boss once per season, making them extremely hard to come by. While not as rare as Resplendent Sparks, it can take some time to accumulate the necessary Runes for crafting the Shroud of False Death as well, which drop randomly from various activities, making it hard to reliably find them.

Aside from crafting, players can also try to farm Diablo 4‘s Tormented Bosses for the chance at a mythic drop. Bosses like Uber Duriel and Andariel have the chance to drop mythics on Torment difficulty tiers, but these drops are still very rare. There’s also no guarantee that players will get the Shroud of False Death even if they get a mythic drop, so players may need to plan to farm for mythics from Uber Bosses but be prepared to craft the Shroud of False Death if they don’t get that specific drop.
