Make Way and Machinarium are the Epic Games Store‘s free games for August 28. They are the ninth and tenth new titles that Epic Games Store users will be able to claim free of charge in August 2025.

Between August 14 and 21, the Epic Games Store has been giving away Totally Reliable Delivery Service and Hidden Folks. The mid-month giveaway has now been replaced with another two freebies in the form of Kamaeru and Strange Horticulture.

With the Epic Games Store’s August 21 promo now underway, the PC storefront has outlined its giveaway for the following week, which will center on Make Way and Machinarium. Both will be available to claim beginning on August 28, at 8am PT / 11am ET / 5pm CET. As per usual, the newly announced giveaway will run for exactly seven days, concluding on September 4.

What Is Make Way?

Developed by Scottish studio Ice Beam, Make Way is a chaotic party game with a racing theme. Each match begins with up to six players collaborating to build a racetrack part-by-part in real time, adding loops, corkscrew turns, train crossings, and various other elements. The building phase is then followed by a race, where players are expected to dodge track hazards, deploy weaponry, and take precise turns at high speeds. Make Way was originally released in December 2023, but was never before free on the Epic Games Store. In fact, it’s not even available on Epic’s storefront right now, with its EGS debut set for August 28, the same day the newly announced giveaway kicks off.

What Is Machinarium?

Developed and published by Czech studio Amanita Design, Machinarium is a point-and-click adventure game starring a scrapped robot who rebuilds himself and infiltrates a robot city with the goal of thwarting a criminal plot. Originally released in 2009, the game has received widespread praise from fans and critics alike, as underlined by its 85 Metacritic score and “Very Positive” user reviews on Steam.

While waiting for the August 28 promo to go live, Epic Games Store users can grab Strange Horticulture and Hidden Folks. The former is an occult-themed puzzler casting players as a plant store proprietor operating in an eerie, fog-laden town of Undermere. The larger-than-life protagonist spends his days identifying strange flora and influencing various storylines, while occasionally petting his cat. Conversely, Hidden Folks is a hidden-object adventure game with hand-drawn graphics and 32 levels to complete. Neither Strange Horticulture nor Hidden Folks has previously been offered as an Epic Games Store freebie. Looking ahead, the contents of the storefront’s September 4–11 giveaway are expected to be announced as soon as Make Way and Machinarium become available to claim next week.
