The impressive real-life version of the Final Fantasy 14character has been widely praised by the community for its accuracy, with several saying it looked like it was straight out of the game.
Final Fantasy 14 is approaching the 7.3 update, which is expected to drop around August. Over on the Final Fantasy 14 subreddit, user Nipahdubs shared their cosplay rendition of Thancred, one of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. The cosplay recreates the job and outfit that Thancred began using during the Shadowbringers expansion, complete with the Gunblade he uses as a Gunbreaker. The cosplay perfectly recreates the outfit he wears, even including the long belt of ammunition. As Thancred is a popular Final Fantasy 14 NPC, the post has drawn a lot of attention from the MMORPG’s community at large.

Fans have asked a lot of questions about the cosplay, and the cosplayer has revealed a number of details on it. Some expressed that they had thought it was an in-game screenshot or fanart at first glance, to which Nipahdubs explained that they used a 3D-rendered background for the image that they made in the Blender program. Nipahdubs added that the gunblade was their favorite element of the cosplay, as they love Final Fantasy 8, where the weapon first appeared in the series, and created the prop themselves by 3D printing and finishing it. The fan apparently also attended the last Final Fantasy 14 Fanfest in Las Vegas in a different set of gear from the game. While they didn’t explicitly state it, attendees of the next FF14 Fanfest may want to keep an eye out in case the cosplayer shows up in this outfit.
For now, fans are wondering what Thancred’s role will be in future Final Fantasy 14 content. The Dawntrail expansion split the Scions of the Seventh Dawn into separate groups, and as a result, Thancred wasn’t around for a significant portion of it.
