Final Fantasy 14 players will lose the opportunity to claim a free Fantasia if they don’t act before August 5. The freebie will vanish once the 7.3 update for Final Fantasy 14 arrives.
Final Fantasy 14 has seen a lot of controversy recently, but it hasn’t been all bad news. Alongside the launch of Dawntrail, Final Fantasy 14 underwent a graphical upgrade that changed and improved the appearance of character models, among other things. However, this led to some player characters appearing slightly different to how they were previously. As a result, free Fantasias have been offered, but strictly on a limited basis. These items essentially allow players to return to the character creator and change their Warrior of Light however they like, including by changing race or gender.
Some Final Fantasy 14 fans are so upset with new gear coming in Patch 7.3, The Promise of Tomorrow, that they are threatening to boycott the game.
When the 7.2 patch landed for Final Fantasy 14, the developers included an opportunity to pick up a free Fantasia. This opportunity will end with the release of the 7.3 patch for Final Fantasy 14, which will launch on August 5, following maintenance. Players who haven’t yet redeemed the Fantasia should make sure to pick it up by August 4, as major patches are typically accompanied by 24-hour maintenance periods. The item normally costs $10 on the Final Fantasy 14 Online Store, and once acquired, can be kept indefinitely.
Acquiring Final Fantasy 14 Free 7.2 Patch Fantasia
Those who haven’t yet gotten this particular Fantasia don’t have to work hard to get it. Players will need to go to Old Gridania and find the Wandering Moogle NPC there, located at (X:10.7 Y:6.4), near Apkallu Falls and the achievement reward NPC Jonathas. If using aetherytes, players can warp to either Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre or the Lancer’s Guild, as the location is roughly equidistant from either. Just talk to the Wandering Moogle, and if not already acquired, it will hand the player a free Fantasia.
At this time, the developers of Final Fantasy 14 haven’t stated if a new free Fantasia will be offered in the future. The upcoming 7.3 patch is making some changes to the way that hoods are displayed, as well as adding more hats for Hrothgar and Viera, but no sizable changes to characters’ overall appearance have been announced. Those who miss this opportunity or have already utillized their free Fantasias will likely have to go to the online store to get another one. However, players will want to keep their eyes open for potential sales, as online store items are often discounted during the game’s annual anniversary celebration, which typically begins in late August.
