The upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive Ghost of Yotei will feature a 25-hour-long campaign, similar in length to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima. Players are eager to get their hands on the next large-scale RPG from Sucker Punch, with Ghost of Yotei promising to include both popular elements from the studio’s previous historical title and ample new additions to keep things fresh.
Ghost of Tsushima saw incredibly positive reviews following its release, garnering several Game of the Year nominations and inspiring an upcoming film adaptation and anime series. Revealed during a State of Play presentation in late 2024, Ghost of Yotei, a standalone sequel, has been a hot topic ever since, with Sucker Punch slowly sharing more about the action-adventure title. The game will follow Atsu, a wandering ronin, as she seeks revenge against those who slaughtered her family and destroyed her home. Despite being months away from release, Ghost of Yotei has already found high praise, with former PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida calling it “even better” than Ghost of Tsushima.
Ghost of Yotei’s State of Play tiptoed around a key detail, and in doing so, may have turned the game’s most lingering question into its loudest.
During a recent interview with VGC, Ghost of Yotei‘s creative director, Jason Connell, revealed that the title’s main campaign will take around 25 hours, similar in length to Ghost of Tsushima. Connell explained that the upcoming title was designed to be “similar in scale and scope” to that of the previous title, meaning that it will take players approximately 60 hours to complete everything the game has to offer. There will no doubt be plenty to explore in Ghost of Yotei’s new setting of Hokkaido, which features several unique landscapes, from snow-capped mountains to dense forests and cities filled with danger at every turn.
Ghost of Yotei’s Campaign Is Around 25 Hours Long, Similar to Ghost of Tsushima
The highly anticipated title will feature some key differences when compared to Ghost of Tsushima, with Ghost of Yotei altering the combat system in some unique ways. The stance system will be replaced entirely, with Atsu capable of wielding five weapons instead, each with a specific purpose. Additionally, players will be able to effortlessly toss enemies into the air by utilizing their spear, and enemies can be disarmed during combat, though this can prove to be tricky in the midst of battle.
Eager players will be able to snag two limited-time PS5 Ghost of Yotei console bundles, available in both PlayStation 5 Slim and PlayStation 5 Pro variants. These will feature artwork inspired by the game, with the DualSense controllers also getting a makeover. Those who already own a PS5 will be able to purchase two Ghost of Yotei console covers, available in black and gold. The bundles will launch on the game’s release day of October 2, with pre-orders not yet live.
