The exact file size and pre-load date for Sucker Punch’s highly anticipated next game, Ghost of Yotei, have been revealed ahead of the sequel’s launch on October 2. Ghost of Yoteiwill be a PlayStation 5 exclusive game at launch, and will seemingly be much larger than its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima, as new information suggests the title will need to occupy roughly 85 GB on the console.
With its launch now just a few weeks away, Ghost of Yotei is gearing up to join the likes of Hollow Knight: Silksong and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach as one of the biggest sequels to release this year. Ghost of Tsushima launched to critical acclaim back in 2020, but now Sucker Punch is aiming to take things to a whole other level as Ghost of Yotei will have a deeper open world, enhanced combat, a new protagonist, true next-gen graphics, and more. But with the sequel aiming to be bigger and better than Tsushima in nearly every way, it’s no surprise that its file size is also much larger.
Ghost of Yotei Will Be 85 GB
Back in 2020, PlayStation recommended that gamers have at least 40-50 GB free for Ghost of Tsushima. Now that file size has nearly doubled for Ghost of Yotei. According to PlayStation Game Size, a reliable Twitter user who tracks the comings and goings on PlayStation’s backend, Ghost of Yotei is 85.119 GB on PlayStation 5, and pre-loads for the title will reportedly begin on September 25. However, it is worth noting that Sucker Punch may continue to update the title prior to its release, which could slightly increase the file size even more. It’s also not uncommon for a day-one patch to launch alongside big releases, which may also bump up that figure.
To celebrate the upcoming launch of Ghost of Yotei, Sony is releasing a limited edition PlayStation 5 console and accessories themed around the sequel. Both the PlayStation 5 Slim and PlayStation 5 Pro will receive gorgeous limited edition variants that feature an ink-style painting of Mt. Yotei in either gold or black. A new PlayStation 5 DualSense controller with a similar pattern will also be released alongside the consoles. Those who are looking to get their hands on the Ghost of Yotei PS5 and controller can pre-order now in time for their October 2 release.
For those who are yet to purchase Sony’s flagship console but plan on doing so for Ghost of Yotei, they may want to be careful, as the company is rumored to be downgrading the internal storage of the PlayStation 5 in some regions. With Ghost of Yotei taking up 85 GB, gamers will want to ensure they have as much space as possible for when the sequel is released.
