On September 8, Ghost of Yotei shared a video that offered fans a more detailed look at the environments and locales that will be featured in the upcoming title. The Ghost of Yotei video features no talking or any action, but instead focuses on the wild areas, landmarks, and homes of 17th-century Japan that players can explore throughout the game’s story.
Set over 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, the upcoming Ghost of Yotei puts players in control of Atsu, a wandering mercenary on a quest of vengeance against a gang known as the Yotei Six, who are led by a samurai called Lord Saito. Along with traditional weapons like a katana, some of the weapons Atsu can use include an odachi sword, smoke bombs, a matchlock rifle, and bows and arrows. Each weapon in Atsu’s arsenal can be used to defeat specific enemies, so Ghost of Yotei players must know how and when to use them against the Yotei Six and other foes that occupy the game’s open world.
Ghost of Yotei Shares a Lengthy Video Highlighting the Game’s Japanese Setting
With just under one month until the game’s release, Sony and Sucker Punch have shared a new glimpse at the open world environment of Ghost of Yotei. On September 8, a 10-minute Ghost of Yotei video was posted on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel, which showed the gorgeous environments and places that Atsu can explore on her vengeance-fueled journey. The environmental montage featured no talking, combat, or main characters on screen, but included some relaxing music from the game’s soundtrack. The video starts with a glimpse at a wheat field and farmstead before transitioning to views of two different waterfalls. Other places, such as autumnal forests, flower-covered fields, and hidden shrines atop hills, were featured throughout the Ghost of Yotei montage.
A distant glimpse of Mount Yotei, the game’s titular mountain, was chosen to close out the video. Fans looking to hear more information about Ghost of Yotei before its October 2 launch will not have long to wait, as PlayStation will have a presence at Tokyo Game Show 2025. Ghost of Yotei and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will be the focus of Sony’s time at TGS 2025. The upcoming expo will take place September 25 through 28 at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba, Japan.
Between its open-world environments and new takes on the Ghost of Tsushima combat formula, Ghost of Yotei is one of fall 2025’s most anticipated titles. How successful Sucker Punch’s new title will be remains to be seen.
