Description

So far, there is only a limited variety of weapons in Grounded 2’s early access, since players can’t yet unlock the Omni-tool upgrades past tier-2 that are required to harvest rare resources. Thankfully, though, in the meantime of new weapons coming in future updates throughout Grounded 2’s early access roadmap, there are a handful of secret weapons for players to collect.

These secret weapons in Grounded 2 are much more than collector’s items, as they effectively offer tier-3 equivalents for some of the weapon types that don’t yet have one. However, some of these secret weapons aren’t very accessible early on in the game. Fortunately, there’s another, not-so-secret, weapon that players will want to prioritize, as it’s arguably the best melee weapon in the game for the time being, and it’s also much more accessible: the Mosquito Needle sword.

One Grounded 2 Early Game Weapon Is Rated ‘E’ For Everyone

Especially on Grounded 2’s highest difficulty, what might seem like negligible differences in a weapon’s stats can potentially mean the difference between life and death in any given fight, so players will want to get some strong gear as soon as possible. When it comes to the secret weapons in Grounded 2, while these might make for good early-game weapons in theory, they’re not exactly viable to obtain without late-game Omni-tool upgrades. This is where the Mosquito Needle sword shines, as it’s one of the most accessible early game weapons that still holds up surprisingly well in the later stages of the game.

Grounded 2’s Mosquito Needle Gives Players a Lasting Upgrade

Despite being a tier-2 weapon, this sword can be crafted very early on, before players even leave the starting Snackbar area of Brookhollow Park. As the name suggests, players will need to kill a mosquito to craft the Mosquito Needle, and two can be found immediately next to the Hatchery Anthill: North Entrance POI.

While players’ first fight against a flying bug might seem intimidating, Grounded 2’s perfect parry mechanic can make light work of mosquitoes. In general, flying enemies tend to have much more visibly telegraphed attacks, and they also seem to be more susceptible to being stunned. Typically, a single well-timed parry is enough to stun a mosquito, leaving it vulnerable to several follow-up attacks, allowing for a quick kill.

Even if players die, at this point in the early game, there are little to no consequences, making this a worthwhile endeavor.

Grounded 2’s Mosquito Needle Makes Late Game Difficulty a Cake Walk

The biggest strength of the Mosquito Needle is that it provides lifesteal, healing players whenever they attack an enemy. Naturally, this kind of passive healing is a game-changer, but that’s not the only advantage of this sword. Equipping the sword Mutation in Grounded 2 allows attacks from swords to temporarily reduce an enemy’s damage. Between these two utilities, this single sword can provide a free source of personal healing, while also providing a debuff that teammates can benefit from. On top of this, the weapon’s base damage can be further upgraded at a Smithing Station, like any other weapon.

Future Weapons in Grounded 2 WIll Have a Tough Challenge to Compete With the Mosquito Needle

This weapon alone can carry players through the main story in Grounded 2, or at least what’s available so far in the current state of the game’s early access. Even amidst a variety of secret weapons, the Mosquito Needle is arguably the best melee weapon in Grounded 2, and one that players won’t ever need to replace until more tier-3 weapons get added to the game, and maybe not even then.
