While the show will not be released until 2027, small details are proving that a lot of attention to detail is being paid to the characters and how this version of Harry Potter is being brought to life.

HBO has released an early look at several Harry Potter cast members in their full outfits, but it has done more damage than good.
A small clip of Harry and Hagrid on set in London has emerged online, allowing Harry Potter fans to see the two characters together for the first time. McLaughlin can be seen alongside a giant-sized Hagrid, which showcases what the character will look like on the show in terms of clothing and size. While it visually looks like Frost, it appears that HBO’s Harry Potter will be using a large stand-in who will wear a prosthetic head to capture Hagrid’s likeness, while also showcasing his size in comparison to Harry.
That is the same technique that the Harry Potter movies adapted with Robbie Coltrane’s portrayal of Hagrid. The actor would be used for close-up scenes and dialogue, while a larger actor would work under a prosthetic head of Coltrane to ensure that Hagrid’s size was accurately brought to life. This was one of the main worries that some Harry Potter fans had when the initial photo of Frost leaked, as he appeared too small in the eyes of most people. That is why this particular leak has proven to be popular, as audiences can now understand how Hagrid will appear.
It’s unknown what scene was being shot here, but it does mark the first time fans have seen Harry and Hagrid on set together. HBO’s Harry Potter has already been filming at the London Zoo, where Harry and the Dursley Family were shown, which reflects an important part of the original story that JK Rowling created. That is the moment when Harry first learns of his magical powers and his ability to communicate with snakes, making it a pivotal moment in the story. While it’s unclear if HBO’s version of the tale will follow that exact path, it is set to at least be similar.
The previous Harry Potter set leak also hinted at this version of the story having a clear time period, which the movies lacked. It appears that HBO’s Harry Potter will be sticking to the books in the sense that it seems to be set in the early 1990s, based on the clothing that the characters were seen wearing. This new leak doesn’t help much in that regard, as Hagrid is dressed as the Hogwarts gamekeeper, which doesn’t give much away. However, it does highlight that the two popular characters will be in London together at some point in the first season. The majority of Harry Potter will be shot in a studio as opposed to in public settings like this, making it a rare example of a set leak that everyone will be able to see.
