Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani addresses the sudden price increase over Helldivers 2‘s Halo warbond collaboration, while teasing the next content drop. It’s an exciting time for Helldivers 2 players, as the popular co-op action game expands onto the Xbox platform on August 26 and potentially marking a major shift in how Sony approaches future multiplayer-centric titles appearing on other platforms.
To celebrate the launch of Helldivers 2 on Xbox, Arrowhead Game Studios officially revealed its next big collaboration. At Gamescom Opening NIght Live, Arrowhead showed off the Halo 3: ODST Legendary Warbond for Helldivers 2, adding the Helljumper and Recon armor sets, new weapons, skins, and other cosmetic items based off of Microsoft’s iconic franchise. Interestingly enough, the price point for this new Warbond caught many players by surprise as it is higher than normal.
Helldivers 2 CEO Reveals Reasons for Higher Price Point on Halo 3 ODST Warbond
On the Helldivers 2 Official Discord channel, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani addressed the 1,500 Super Credit cost for the Halo 3 ODST Warbond. Jorjani confirmed that the new price point isn’t the standard going forward and is only for Legendary Warbonds, which are bundles that crossover with other IPs instead of original content. This is mainly due to covering licensing costs, additional work required to collaborate, and gaining approval from IP holders. The good news is that this Halo 3: ODST content in Helldivers 2 will be permanently available, though players won’t be able to customize the gear, likely due to licensing reasons.
Surprisingly, this doesn’t appear to be the only new content on the horizon. Helldivers 2 community manager revealed that the Halo Warbond is considered special and isn’t actually part of the regular Warbond cadence Arrowhead has planned. As such, premium Warbonds will continue alongside it at the normal 1,000 SC price. The teases continued with Baskinator revealing that they’ve seen the next one on deck and “it’s awesome.” Fans suspect an early September launch date, with 5–7 weeks typically between each one, considering Control Group launched for Helldivers 2 on July 17.
With a new group of players set to join those already on PlayStation and PC, it’s clear that Arrowhead will have plenty more on the horizon. While Helldivers 2 is constantly evolving thanks to its ever-changing Galactic War, new leaks have seemingly sprung up, potentially highlighting new enemies for players to fight. While nothing official has been revealed, leakers have seemingly found evidence of new Illuminate enemy troops potentially coming to Helldivers 2, including a Zealot that can summon lesser troops while using a whip to close the distance on players.
