Gamers can currently purchase Hogwarts Legacy for only $12, gaining an 80% discount over its original $60 price tag. This is an excellent opportunity for Harry Potter fans who have never played Hogwarts Legacy, as this is the lowest price the title has ever had on any platform.
Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games, Hogwarts Legacy was released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in February 2023, with ports for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 coming later. By depicting the popular Harry Potter universe in a sprawling open-world, Hogwarts Legacy became the best-selling game of 2023, selling over 22 million copies that year. Hogwarts Legacy received very positive reviews, and it currently stands with an average critic score of 84 on OpenCritic.
Hogwarts Legacy Currently Costs Only $12 on Steam
Now, Hogwarts Legacy is being featured as part of the “Back to Hogwarts” promotion on Steam, which is offering the title with an 80% discount for only $12. This is the lowest price ever for Hogwarts Legacy, as the game only had a 75% discount ($15) before that. As part of the same promotion, Harry Potter Collection and Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions are also being sold at an 80% discount, too, costing $8 and $6, respectively.
The promotion comes at a good time to play Hogwarts Legacy, as the title is essentially finished by now. Earlier this year, it was reported that an unannounced DLC for Hogwarts Legacy was canceled, as Avalanche Software decided to focus on the sequel.
Not much is known about Hogwarts Legacy’s sequel at this time, but it’ll unlikely be released in the next few years, considering how long the development of open-world games generally takes. Many rumors about the sequel have surfaced this year, however, such as that Hogwarts Legacy 2 will feature branching narratives. This particular rumor started after Warner Bros. Games advertised a job for a writer with expertise in “screenwriting and branching dialogue” and an ability to build “compelling, complex, branching narratives.”

Other rumors have pointed out that Hogwarts Legacy 2’s world may change over time. The rumor, which was also taken from a job advert, did not indicate whether this would mean profound changes or mostly small, cosmetic ones, such as the changing seasons in the first game. Obviously, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, as there’s still not much confirmed about the game, and much can change before the launch.
