How to Reach the Library Tower in Dying Light: The Beast
Description
Safe Zones provide small areas of almost complete respite in Dying Light The Beast, and if you’ve played other open-world games like this one, you’ll probably be familiar with how they work. Before a Safe Zone becomes actually safe, you’ll first need to clear it of enemies and flip a switch somewhere in its general area. This is a fairly simple checklist of goals, but for Safe Zones like the one in the Library Tower, things can get a little confusing.
The Library Tower in Dying Light: The Beast isn’t particularly special, but getting up to it can be a head scratcher. In this guide, we’ll be going over how to unlock this safe house as quickly and as easily as possible.
Climbing the Library Tower in Dying Light: The Beast
You can enter this Safe Zone through one of the open windows by the library’s roof. Look for some scaffolding within the library compound leading up to the roof, or just find some ledges that you can climb on.
Once you’re inside, you’ll be greeted by a locked door and seemingly no way up to the safe room. To start your climb, look for a metal grate leaning against some plywood, then jump towards the wooden beams above it. You’ll be seeing a lot of these motifs throughout Dying Light: The Beast, so you best get used to seeing them.
You may have to hold or press the jump button again as you touch the plywood in order to start a vertical wall run. Once you get to the floor above, take the stairs down and unlock the gate.
Next, follow the wooden beams until you reach a window — do not go outside. Instead, look for some red bricks along the walls that you can shimmy on. From here, you do either of the following:
- Follow the red brick ledge until you see a wooden beam with some grey cloth on it. Jump to that beam, then jump to the adjacent beam with red cloth.
- Climb onto the red brick ledge, then jump straight to the wooden beam with the red cloth. Aim for the edge of the beam that’s closest to you.
After this part of the climb, you’ll reach the clock chamber, and in order to get to the safe house above, you need to rotate one of the clocks. To do this, attach a power cord to one of the nearby junction boxes, then connect it to the junction box next to the clock gear with the long arm. Wait for the arm to reach the 12 o’clock position, then detach the power cable.
With the arm in the right position, climb onto the maintenance cabinet in the middle of the chamber (while still holding the power cord), then jump toward the clock gear arm. After that, swing your body a bit to build momentum, then jump toward the wooden beams by the ceiling. From there you should be able to climb up to the safe house.
The safe house should have a couple of zombies in it. Take them out, then plug the cable into the junction box there. Now, you’ll have a new place to rest in case you get caught out in the night in Dying Light: The Beast.
