The Galactic Map in Helldivers 2 is always active, with the enemy factions always aiming to move from one planet to another and trigger different types of battles for control over a planet. One type of battle will include the invasion level, which will appear whenever players hover over that planet in the Galactic Map.
Invasions trigger defense missions, which task Helldivers to complete missions on that planet in order to keep the enemy from taking it for themselves. The Invasion Level is important to understand as it focuses on the planet as a whole, and how urgently Helldivers need to direct their attention there.
What is Invasion Level in Helldivers 2?
Simply put, a higher invasion level means the planet is more likely to fall, and players need to direct their focus to higher invasion level planets first. When hovering over a defense mission planet, you’ll see two bars, with the blue one on top representing Super Earth and the Helldivers, while the other faction’s color will represent the bar beneath it.
Low-level Invasion Levels are easier to hold, but can still be lost without proper player participation and victory.
Losing missions greatly helps the enemy bar fill up.
During the duration of the invasion, the enemy bar will steadily fill, with the exact speed determined by the invasion level. Completing a mission will give more progress towards the blue bar, so higher Invasion Level planets will need a lot more wins in a shorter amount of time in order to win the battle for the planet.
Invasion Level does not influence the difficulty of missions on that planet or the strength of the enemies on the planet.
Completing City Operations
If you are helping out with a planet currently being invaded, most of the operations available will be Defend Planet or City Operations. City Operations are those that take place in large dense cities filled with skyscrapers. Completing City Operations will contribute towards that city either being held or falling, which has it’s own bar.
Major cities falling on invasion planets will do a lot to helping the enemy take a planet, so it’s important to get a few of these missions in when trying to hold a planet. There is only one bar for a city, with the two side fighting to fill it up from either side.
