In Pokemon GO, players can earn special research tasks and rewards for checking out various Twitch streams for the 2025 Pokemon World Championships (happening right now in Anaheim, California). If you need help getting the Twitch drops, you can check out our detailed PoGO guide right here.
If you’re reading this guide, then you’ve probably already unlocked the second day of the Team Building: Great League Timed Research, which will present Pokemon GO players with a choice between three paths: Lileep, Squirtle, and Sentret. Which route should you choose, you ask? Well, let’s get into it.
For the Pokemon GO Great League, Pokemon on your team must be at or below 1500 CP. The one going on right now for Delightful Days will come to an end on August 19, 2025.
Lileep Path, Explained in Pokemon GO Team Building: Great League
The first thing you should know about the three paths (Lileep, Squirtle, and Sentret) is that the Timed Research Tasks are all the same. They require you to defeat a Team GO Rocket Grunt, Power Up a Pokemon 10 times, and use a Charged TM in battle one time. And for the step after this, you just need to battle another trainer in the Great League, win a battle, and then win three battles.
If you choose the Lileep Path in Pokemon GO, you will get the following rewards:
Lileep Encounter
Lapras Encounter
Sableye Encounter
50 Lileep Candy
50 Lapras Candy
50 Sableye Candy
8500 Stardust

If you decide to go with the Squirtle path for the Team Building: Great League choice, you will eventually earn the following rewards for completing the tasks:

And last but not least, here’s what you will get if you decide to go with the Sentret path in Pokemon GO:
Sentret Encounter
Wimpod Encounter
Paldean Wooper Encounter
50 Sentret Candy
50 Wimpod Candy
50 Paldean Wooper Candy
8500 Stardust
So, Is Lileep, Sentret, or Squirtle the Best Choice for the Great League?
If you end up actually wanting to use one of these Pokemon in the Great League to help with the Research Tasks, the one path we recommend the most is the Lileep one. Not only is Lileep itself a pretty viable contender in the Great League due to its unique dual-typing (Grass/Rock), but it also has access to a lot of different moves, like Grass Knot, Infestation, Acid, and Ancient Power.
Lapras is also a solid contender for the league and is part of the Lileep Path. This one also features a good dual typing (Ice/Water), and some of its best moves are the water-type moves, Sparkling Aria and Water Gun, as well as the Psychic-type move, Psywave.
At the end of the day, if there’s a particular Pokemon on the rewards list that you’ve been meaning to add to your Pokedex, that might be more important to you than finding the best Great League roster.
