Following the July 31 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase episode, some Madden NFL 26 fans compared screenshots between the Switch 2 and the Xbox console versions of the upcoming NFL simulator. While the graphical differences between the two Madden NFL 26 versions were noticeable, fans stated that the portability of the Switch 2 is worth consideration.
Madden NFL 26 was one of the featured titles shown during the July 31 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase. The upcoming entry from EA Sports was highlighted halfway through the broadcast, following the reveal of Persona 3 Reload for the Switch 2. Madden NFL 26 is also the franchise’s return to Nintendo consoles, as the previous featured entry was Madden NFL 13 on the Wii U in November 2012. While the Madden NFL series has continued to thrive on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, EA pulled support for most of its franchises during the Wii U and Switch eras. However, the arrival of the Switch 2 has given third-party developers a new platform to work with.

Weeks ahead of the launch of Madden NFL 26 on all platforms, fans got a look at how EA Sports’ next entry will run on the Switch 2. Reddit user BuiSauce shared some screenshots on the Madden subreddit that compared the Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Madden NFL 26. The montage used footage from the July 31 Nintendo Direct and EA Sports’ own Gameplay Deep Dive video from June 17. The first screenshots compared a match-up between the Baltimore Ravens and the Miami Dolphins, with the differences in lighting in field conditions being more apparent. The second pair of screenshots showed how a game in the snow looked on each console, with the Switch 2 featuring less visible details. The next pair of screenshots showed how detailed the playing field looked on both systems.
Madden NFL 26 Fans Compare Switch 2 And Xbox Ports
The final pictures focused on Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, as the Switch 2’s version of his introduction was less detailed compared to the Xbox version. While the other versions of Madden NFL 26 have higher graphical fidelity due to running on more powerful hardware, the Switch 2’s portability and lack of an internet connection requirement for local matches were considered positives by BuiSauce. Despite the differences, the Switch 2 and Xbox versions of Madden NFL 26 will launch simultaneously on August 14.
With a revamped Superstar mode and continued updates to Madden Ultimate Team, Madden NFL 26 looks to bring all major platforms into the fold. It remains to be seen how many copies Madden NFL 26 will sell on the Switch 2.
