Marvel Rivals may have given players a first look at a new symbiote skin for the Vanguard The Thing, who has already received multiple cosmetics throughout Season 3. NetEase Games is currently preparing to launch its major mid-season update on August 8, which will bring the hero Blade of Marvel Rivals.
In the July 24 update for Marvel Rivals, NetEase Games added a new Fantastic Four team-up ability to the title. The “First Steps” team-up focuses on Human Torch and The Thing, and it’s largely meant to increase the mobility of the popular Vanguard. When on the same team, Human Torch can pick up The Thing and carry him through the sky, eventually dropping him onto the battlefield. While plummeting toward the ground, The Thing can launch an attack, potentially surprising enemies who aren’t keeping an eye on the sky. Since team-ups come and go, there’s no telling just how long this special ability will stick around. Players looking to enjoy its benefits may want to act fast.

Marvel Rivals gives players a first look at gameplay of an upcoming Fantastic Four team-up in NetEase Games’ popular hero shooter.
In a recent post on Twitter, the popular dataminer X0X_LEAK revealed a new image from an upcoming issue of Marvel Rivals‘ comic book. They pointed out that the artwork includes The Thing from Marvel Rivals, but he appears to be sporting a new symbiote costume. While this isn’t confirmation that such a skin will come to the title, all the other heroes are sporting costumes that are already available in the popular hero shooter. Marvel shared some official details about the upcoming comic, stating that it will feature a new “King in Black” story arc. This seems to be consistent with what’s happening in the game, as Knull is currently the main villain of Season 3.
Most recently, The Thing received a new skin in Marvel Rivals as part of a collaboration with the MCU film The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is currently in theaters. While some fans were disappointed to see that the costume doesn’t come with an MVP animation, many people have been eager to get their hands on the powder blue and white outfit. The other members of The Fantastic Four received similar skins, all of which are based on the hero group’s appearance in the film.
In addition, The Thing recently received a new skin as a part of Marvel Rivals‘ Summer Special event. The costume shows The Thing wearing small black swim trunks, and he even has flowers draped around his neck. In order to claim this skin, players need to purchase the premium version of the Summer Special event pass with Lattice. The pass also includes summer skins for Thor and Luna Snow. With so much content to enjoy and even more just around the corner, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Marvel Rivals.
