Metroid Prime 4 Announcement is Good News for Its Release Date
Description
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has been rated in Brazil, following a recent trend that indicates that the eagerly awaited Nintendo game is finally nearing its release. Metroid Prime 4 still does not have an official release date, and fans of the popular series are curious to discover when they can finally experience Samus Aran’s new adventure.
Initially announced during E3 2017, Metroid Prime 4 has faced a long and troubled development. The title was originally being developed by Bandai Namco Studios, but Nintendo rebooted Metroid Prime 4’s development in 2019, switching to Retro Studios, which is said to have been working on the title since. Last year, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was announced once more with a new name, and the title is expected to be out in 2025.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Has Been Rated in Brazil
Since then, some indications that Metroid Prime 4’s release date could be near have surfaced. The latest one was uncovered by the journalist Necro Felipe, who reported that the game has been rated in Brazil. According to Necro Felipe, Nintendo wanted a 12+ rating for the game, but obtained a 14+ rating from the Brazilian ratings agency. While this does not necessarily prove that Metroid Prime 4’s release is just around the corner, games are generally only rated when they are content-complete. This would mean that it would be somewhat surprising to see the launch take too much longer.
This is not the first time that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has been rated, but the frequency with which this is happening could point to a release. Last month, for example, Metroid Prime 4 was rated in the United States by the ESRB.
Before that, reports surfaced that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond had been rated in South Korea by the local Game Rating and Administration Committee. The action game was considered to be suitable for ages 12 and up by the company.
To add even more fuel to recent speculation, a new rumor had indicated a release date for Metroid Prime 4. A few weeks ago, a video game retailer from Russia listed September 18 as the release date for the next entry in the Metroid series. Some other leaks have indicated that Nintendo could hold another Nintendo Direct in September, so a few gamers are betting on a shadow drop of the game during the event. In any case, it’s always best to remember to take these rumors with a grain of salt and wait until Nintendo finally announces the title’s official release date.
