The latest Monster Hunter Wilds update is causing crashes for some players. Fortunately, Capcom is already aware of the issue and is currently working to fix the problems caused by the 1.021 update for Monster Hunter Wilds.
Released earlier this year, Monster Hunter Wilds has become one of the most popular titles of 2025. Recent reports indicate that Monster Hunter Wilds sold over 10 million units, with around 80% of them being purchased in the first three days of its launch. Despite Monster Hunter Wilds’ astounding success, it seems that Capcom may be struggling to maintain the title’s popularity, as only 477,000 copies of the title have been sold in the last quarter, and the game has lost around 98% of its player base on Steam.
Now, Capcom has released Update 1.021 for Monster Hunter Wilds, but some players have already noticed that the changes have come with a major problem. In a recent social media post, Capcom stated that it was “aware” of the issue, noting that the game may crash when players “faint and return to camp during Fast Travel or a quest under certain conditions.” The developer is working on the issue and will launch the 1.021.01.00 patch to correct it, but the patch still does not have an official release window.
Update 1.021 for Monster Hunter Wilds added some fresh content to the game, such as a new appraisal item, the Glowing Stone, and a Recoil Aim Assist option. Also, a new feature related to Appraised Talismans was added to the Melding Pot. The patch also fixed dozens of bugs and made several adjustments to the balance of the popular action-adventure game.
In future patches, Monster Hunter Wilds will also improve the PC performance of the game. According to game director Yuya Tokuda, reducing CPU strain without making Monster Hunter Wilds’ performance worse is one of the current goals of the developers, and may be available after the fourth title update of the game, which is set for the winter.
Hopefully, all of these issues will be addressed soon. Monster Hunter Wilds received very positive reviews upon release, and it currently stands with an average score of 89 on OpenCritic, but the lack of frequent updates has been criticized by part of the fanbase. If the title can improve its performance on PC and add more content without creating new issues, Monster Hunter Wilds may be able to claw its way back to the top.
