Moonlighter is a roguelite that provides a refreshing blend of dungeon crawling and shop management. Basically, the gameplay loop revolves around exploring dungeons to collect loot, all in the hope of selling these items to turn a profit, and all of this is presented through a vibrant art style. The structure is simple and addictive, and you will spend as much time fighting bosses as you will price-gauging (and exploring other mechanics like crafting). To succeed, you will need to master both sides of the equation, and the process can be slow-moving while you are still coming to grips with everything.
Along with planning and executing dungeon crawls, you also need to know how to sell items at the best price for the right customer. The latter is built on trial and error, and learning Moonlighter‘s best item prices is a part of the fun. However, there could be situations where you might prefer to skip the guesswork and just learn the ideal price list. If that is the case, this guide should help.
In a Game Rant interview, Digital Sun devs discuss the lessons they learned from Moonlighter that helped them make Cataclismo.
Updated on July 12, 2025 by Mark Sammut: With Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault targeting a 2025 debut, its predecessor is starting to feel like old news by this point. However, Moonlighter is still a popular and, more importantly, great game that can offer countless hours of entertainment for anyone craving a unique but fun blend of roguelite dungeon crawling and shop management. A standard playthrough might be enough for most people, but there is also the option to try New Game+. A section dedicated to that mode has been added to this article.
Perfect Price Explained
With the freedom to set prices for your loot, there is a balance to be struck between selling cheap to build your popularity and setting a high price so you can actually profit. A perfect price is essentially the highest value an item can go for without adversely affecting the shop’s popularity in this roguelite.
Once you have the perfect price, you can continue to make adjustments upwards or downwards. This can help shopkeepers take advantage of items that are popular during a certain period, or if the clientele happens to be loaded with cash. To help you make sense of things, here’s an extensive list of the various items that can be obtained in Moonlighter, and the perfect prices for them:
The roguelike and strategy genres pair surprisingly well together, and these titles prove how well they blend.

New Game+ Item Prices
Price Spike (That Is Somewhat Negated)
While the focus of this article is on the standard prices within a normal playthrough, Moonlighter also features New Game+, a mode that was introduced with 2018’s Adventure Update. Unsurprisingly, NG+ offers a considerable difficulty spike, which impacts both dungeon crawling and the shop simulation elements.
The latter mostly comes in the form of significant price hikes, as item costs are multiplied by roughly 5.6 in Moonlighter‘s New Game+. In theory, this sounds like a massive increase that could slow down a new playthrough to a crawl, but the game allows you to hold on to any money collected during the previous run. Therefore, you will likely start NG+ with a healthy sum of cash that should make up for the price increase. As you also keep a few of your items and receive access to new equipment like the Pirate weapons, NG+ is a bit easier than it might initially seem. Ultimately, if you love Moonlighter but want to add a bit of a twist to the formula, this mode works well as an option.
