Niantic has announced yet another Pokemon GO event, this time inviting players to join the “Summer Concert,” taking place from July 19 to July 22. Pokemon GO continues to introduce new ways for players to enjoy the immensely popular mobile experience, and now fans should mark July 19 on their calendars—because in addition to the concert, Niantic is also bringing some special things to the game.
Pokemon GO came to revolutionize mobile games in 2016, implementing augmented reality with geolocation technology, turning every fan’s dream into reality—exploring the real world to catch Pokemon. Since the game’s initial release, Niantic has continually expanded the experience with key updates to make the game more social and competitive, while also adding elements from other Pokemon games. It also features plenty of events, including Community Days, GO Fests, Spotlight Hours, and themed celebrations, constantly introducing new Pokemon, shiny variants, research tasks, and temporary gameplay bonuses. Now, the developer has scheduled a new event for players.
Pokemon GO’s newest upcoming event is set to add new Hisuian forms for a pair of fan-favorite Pokemon, kicking off in early July.
Starting Saturday, July 19, until Tuesday, July 22, 2025, players can join Pokemon GO’s Summer Concert, a new event aimed at celebrating the music composed by Junichi Masuda—the person responsible for composing the music of some iconic games in the Pokemon series. Players who log into the game during the event can listen to a special arrangement of the background music selected by Junichi Masuda himself.
When Does the Pokemon GO Summer Concert Event Take Place?
On top of Junichi Masuda’s special arrangement, there will be some bonuses during the event. Pokemon GO’s Lure Modules will have a longer duration (1 hour) and will attract specific Pokemon, while also increasing the chance to encounter Shiny Chatot at PokeStops. Some of the Pokemon that will also be attracted to PokeStops with active Lure Modules include Jigglypuff, Lotad, Kricketot, Chatot, Audino, Noibat, and Popplio.
Last but not least, there’ll be an event-themed Field Research task to find Spinda, and lucky players may even find a shiny one. In addition to the Summer Concert event, Niantic has also recently announced that Dynamax Latios and Dynamax Latias will debut during an upcoming Max Battle weekend event in Pokemon GO, taking place from July 26 to 27, 2025. During this event, players will be able to challenge the Legendary Hoenn duo in five-star Max Battles.
In a not-so-positive Pokemon GO development, Niantic has recently rolled out an update that made the game unplayable for users on 32-bit Android devices, as the developer aims to “focus resources on supporting newer operating systems and technologies.” While this is unfortunate news for owners of these devices, Pokemon GO players on newer ones can look forward to the upcoming events Niantic has in store for them.
