Description

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown is finally coming to Xbox and Nintendo Switch, but not PlayStation 5. Developed by indie studio Strange Scaffold and released on Steam back in May 2025, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown brings the famous crime-fighting brothers into the world of turn-based strategy for 20 action-packed missions against Karai and the evil Foot Clan. Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello each have their own special abilities that can be used to defeat enemies amid colorful comic-book-inspired landscapes and a gripping plot that follows the teens after the death of their beloved Master Splinter.

While Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown is short, it has earned mainly positive reviews for capturing the spirit of the franchise and featuring a simple yet gripping board game-like gameplay system that allows for a surprising amount of tactical depth. The game doesn’t seem to have a very large player base on Steam at the moment, but this might change soon now that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown is headed to other platforms later this month.

TMNT: Tactical Takedown Xbox and Nintendo Switch Release Date

Earlier this week, developer Strange Scaffold announced that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown will be released on Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch on August 14. This console port of TMNT: Tactical Takedown will launch at the same time as the new Remix Mode, which will also be added to the Steam version as a free download. It adds new enemy variety and higher difficulty to missions that players have already completed.

While Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown doesn’t yet have a price on the Nintendo or Xbox online stores, it will likely cost in the range of $19.99 based on its Steam release. In another point of note, there is currently no word on TMNT: Tactical Takedown being released on PlayStation 5. It isn’t clear if this means that there won’t be a release on that platform or that the PS5 version will be announced at a later date.

The past few years have been an exciting time for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans, with the releases of new games like TMNT: Tactical Takedown, the addition of the Turtles and some of their most noteworthy supporting characters to Fortnite, and even the retro-inspired TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge and Cowabunga Collection. Future projects include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City, a VR title that will literally take players behind the mask of their favorite Turtle for an immersive first-person adventure, and a God of War-inspired third-person action game based on The Last Ronin by THQ Nordic.
