Nintendo‘s latest financial report shines a light on the company’s biggest upcoming games for the Switch and Switch 2. The original Nintendo Switch has proven to be a massive success and is well on track to become Nintendo‘s best-selling piece of hardware of all time. There’s even a chance it will become the best-selling video game console period, though it remains to be seen if it can knock the PS2 off its throne.

Time will tell if the Switch 2 is able to match the success of its predecessor, but it’s off to an incredible start. Reports indicate that the Switch 2 has passed 6 million units sold, smashing records and becoming the fastest-selling video game console of all time in the process. If Nintendo wants to keep people buying Switch consoles at the rate that they have been, it will need to release high-quality software to entice them. And to that end, Nintendo has recently highlighted 10 of its biggest upcoming games.

Nintendo’s latest financial report points out 10 games that are on the way for the Switch family of consoles. Five of the games are Switch 2 exclusives, but the rest can be played on both platforms. First up is Drag x Drive on August 14, to be followed by Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World on August 28. Then Pokemon Legends: Z-A launches on October 16, with a native release on both the Switch 1 and Switch 2. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is on deck for a vague Winter 2025 release. Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond don’t have solid release dates yet, but both are due out before the year is over.

Upcoming Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 Games List

  • Drag x Drive – August 14 (Switch 2 Exclusive)
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World – August 28 (Switch 2 Exclusive)
  • Pokemon Legends: Z-A – October 16
  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment – Winter 2025 (Switch 2 Exclusive)
  • Kirby Air Riders – TBA 2025 (Switch 2 Exclusive)
  • Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – TBA 2025
  • Rhythm Heaven Groove – 2026
  • Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream – 2026
  • Pokemon Champions – 2026
  • Splatoon Raiders – TBA (Switch 2 Exclusive)

Looking at 2026, Nintendo plans on releasing Rhythm Heaven Groove, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, and Pokemon Champions, all for the original Switch. Of course, since the Switch 2 is backward compatible, owners of the new console will be able to play those games as well. Finally, Splatoon Raiders is coming to the Switch 2, though it’s currently without a release window. It’s possible the game will launch this year, in 2026, or even beyond, but fans will just have to wait for more information on that front.

With some of its biggest games still missing specific release dates, one has to imagine that Nintendo will be hosting a Nintendo Direct at some point in the near-future with a focus on first-party games. Nintendo hosted a Direct in September for eight years straight before breaking its streak in 2024, and so it’s possible it will do so this year to fill out the rest of its 2025 calendar. For now, Nintendo fans can mark their calendars accordingly for the games that do have release dates.
