Description

Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 will receive the latest installment of the NBA 2K series this fall. The first NBA 2K game to arrive on the Switch was NBA 2K18, released in September 2017. Since then, the franchise has consistently launched new entries on the platform, though the Nintendo Switch versions have often been criticized for being downgraded to accommodate the aging hardware.

A previous Nintendo Direct had already informed fans that the NBA 2K series would continue to target the Switch as one of its platforms even after the Switch 2’s release. One of the few remaining concerns among fans is whether the new installments will match current-gen graphics. In other words, fans are eager to know if NBA 2K on the Switch 2 will be comparable to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions now that Nintendo’s console is significantly more advanced.

Call of Duty is available on various platforms including consoles and PC, but will it be released on the Nintendo Switch? Here’s all you need to know.

While few details have been confirmed, Nintendo of America has announced that NBA 2K26 will arrive on the Switch 2 this fall. Although the exact release date hasn’t been revealed, longtime fans know that NBA 2K games typically launch in September. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that the Switch 2 version of NBA 2K26 will release alongside the PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S editions on or around September 5. As for pricing, the Switch 2 version is expected to retail for $70, while the standard Switch version—if a previous-gen release happens—may be priced at $60. There’s also a chance that physical editions will be distributed as game codes, since NBA 2K titles are known for their large file sizes, which may not fit on Nintendo Switch 2 cartridges.

Switch 2 Fans Have Plenty of Questions About the Upcoming NBA 2K26 Release

Historically, the Switch edition of NBA 2K has been criticized for several reasons. For one, it has always looked like a heavily downgraded version of the main game. Additionally, like the PC version, it has lacked crossplay support. With the Switch 2 edition on the horizon, fans are eager to know if it will finally match the visual standards of current-gen consoles and allow cross-platform play. Another concern is whether the game will support 60 FPS visuals, which many consider essential for sports titles like NBA 2K.

Nintendo and 2K Sports have yet to reveal any concrete details about the upcoming game. All players know so far is that the cover athlete for NBA 2K26 is rising star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder and that the game will launch this fall. 2K has also confirmed that pre-orders for NBA 2K26 begin on July 9. Switch 2 fans eager to learn more about the series’ debut on the platform will need to stay tuned, as 2K is expected to share additional details throughout the week.
