No Man’s Sky released a new experimental branch on September 1, addressing various issues players have encountered in the game. Hello Games occasionally rolls out experimental branch updates for No Man’s Sky players on Steam to test, and this latest one should improve the gameplay experience.

No Man's Sky gets Experimental Branch after Voyagers launch

This latest experimental branch patch comes shortly after Hello Games released the Voyagers update for No Man’s Sky. Bringing customizable Corvette-class starships to the game, Voyagers added lots more new content for players to check out. However, it also introduced some new bugs that the development team has been working to squash.

The new experimental branch update for September 1 is Hello Games’ latest effort to fix issues players have encountered as a result of the new content. According to the patch notes, numerous issues with Corvette-class starships have been addressed. Additionally, Corvette parts can now be stacked to 50, and the workshop cache capacity has been increased to 160. Other various fixes were implemented, and several crashing issues were resolved.

While these numerous changes will likely be introduced to the base game in the future, this experimental branch is currently limited to PC players on Steam. To test out the latest changes, players have to navigate to their Steam library page and right-click on the No Man’s Sky icon. They can then select “Properties,” which grants access to the “BETAS” tab. From there, players can enter “3xperimental” in the text field and click “Check Code” to bring up the experimental branch. It is worth noting that Hello Games recommends that players back up their save files on PC before entering the experimental branch. Fortunately, the developer provided an in-depth explanation in a Steam post for those unsure how to do so.

These new improvements should make the game even better for its many players. However, Hello Games encouraged testers to report any issues they encountered in the experimental branch. It is worth noting that the game has recently seen a surge in popularity. Thanks to the Voyagers update, No Man’s Sky’s popularity has spiked. Following the launch of the update, the game exceeded 90,000 concurrent players, the highest total since its 2016 launch.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for No Man’s Sky. While Hello Games continues to work on Light No Fire, the recent Voyagers update suggests that much more for the 2016 game could be in the works. In the meantime, players seemingly have lots to check out in the space-faring game.
