Description

The side quests in Borderlands 4 are a highlight of the game, and No Place Like Home is one of the best missions that you can find early in your adventure on Kairos. This quest for Claptrap requires you to retrieve some key items for him, but some Borderlands 4 players are finding themselves stuck on certain quest steps.

This is a fairly straightforward quest, especially compared to some of Borderlands 4‘s other side missions, but some of the quest steps are bugged. Key items can disappear and become unobtainable, or invisible barriers can prevent you from progressing forward. Thankfully, there are workarounds for these issues. Here’s how to complete No Place Like Home in Borderlands 4.

Meet Claptrap in the Hungering Plains

Borderlands 4 No Place Like Home Location

To start No Place Like Home, find Claptrap at a camp in the Hungering Plains. You can start this quest as soon as you meet the Outbounders and get your first vehicle. Claptrap is just a short trip southeast of The Launchpad, the Outbounders’ primary settlement.

Find Claptrap’s Old Portrait

Borderlands 4 Portrait

The first step of this quest is to track down one of Claptrap’s old portraits at an Order base nearby. You need to gain access to the depot with a keycard first, however.

Head to the Order base and fight your way to the Big Orange Hothead miniboss. He has multiple health bars that are weak to shock and corrosive damage. Once he’s defeated, grab the keycard on the ground among the other loot he drops.

The keycard can glitch out and fall through the ground after killing the Big Orange Hothead. If this happens, reload your last save.

Borderlands 4 Terminate Jerk

Once you have the keycard, head to the marked door. The switch doesn’t work, so you have to find another way in. Follow the wire through the hole in the wall to find a secret entrance activated by a second switch. Head inside and grab the portrait to continue.

Find VR-ON1CA’s Processor

Borderlands 4 Lasers

Next, Claptrap asks you to retrieve VR-ON1CA’s processor from a nearby area. The processor is locked inside a storage room, but you can flip the nearby switch to turn on a laser that’ll get you inside.

Once the laser is on, head down to the solar panels and use the grappling hook to rotate them so the laser reflects back at the locked door. Once the path is clear, head inside and grab the processor to continue.

There’s a chance the door will glitch out and not let you inside even though it looks like it’s open. If this happens, reload an old save and solve the laser puzzle again.

Track Down the Crimson Resistance Asset

Borderlands 4 Asset

Finally, you need to track down a Crimson Resistance asset at the top of the tower. Make your way to the top using your grapple hook and glide ability. You can pull down some of the panels on the tower walls and use them as footholds. At the top of the tower, grab the mask from the psycho inside the porta potty.

Blow Up the Raft

Borderlands 4 Shoot Boat

For the final step of the quest, Claptrap asks you to load all of his stuff onto a raft and tie explosives onto it. Launch the boat out onto the water, then shoot the explosives when Claptrap is ready to blow everything up and complete the quest.

This side quest rewards you with some cash and weapons, but you won’t get any strong legendary gear from it. The best Borderlands 4 guns come from bosses and world activities, so keep an eye out for special events as you explore Kairos.
