Blackbeard’s rise to the status of a Yonko has been incredible to watch. Despite becoming such a feared character, the reason behind Blackbeard’s actions remains unclear. His current power levels are also unknown, but Eiichiro Oda dropped a huge hint about how the Yonko will be beaten.

Blackbeard has access to two of the most powerful Devil Fruits in One Piece. The first Devil Fruit that he consumed was the Yami Yami no Mi. It is a Logia-type Devil Fruit that gives him control over the element of darkness, with which he can engulf entire towns. The darkness has an immensely powerful gravitational pull that can crush all manner of objects. However, the strongest power of the Yami Yami no Mi is how it can nullify the abilities of other Devil Fruits.

Blackbeard obtained the Gura Gura no Mi during the Summit War. The Devil Fruit allows him to create tremors that can effortlessly wipe out an entire island. The Gura Gura no Mi also boosts his defenses, as he can simply use a tremor to block incoming attacks.

Aside from his strong Devil Fruits, Blackbeard also has powerful Haki. After all, he was able to block an incoming attack from S-Hawk with his fist. It is worth mentioning that S-Hawk’s sword slash is able to slice the top of a mountain with ease. So, for Blackbeard to block the attack without suffering any damage shows that his Haki control is excellent. It was recently revealed that Blackbeard is the son of Rocks D. Xebec, who was a member of the Davy family. According to Rocks, the Davy family was nearly annihilated by the World Government, which is why he had to hide his identity. Since Blackbeard is Rocks’ son, he also belongs to the Davy Bloodline. Oda hasn’t disclosed all the details about the Davy family, but that will change in the future.

In one of the panels from Chapter 1159, Ochoko was counting money while the other members of Rocks Pirates were devastated to learn about Shakky’s kidnapping. It clearly looks like Ochoko was responsible for her kidnapping. He probably tipped off the World Government about Shakky’s whereabouts, or he personally handed her over.

Fans know that Rocks Pirates went to the God Valley to rescue Shakky from the clutches of the Celestial Dragons. However, they were beaten, which led to the crew’s disbandment. Blackbeard took revenge on Ochoko by ousting him out of Hachinosu.

However, the Yonko possibly made a fatal error. In the Egghead arc, Blackbeard agreed to meet Caribou, who resembles Ochoko quite a lot. In fact, there is a possibility that Caribou is Ochoko’s son. Since Blackbeard kicked out Ochoko, Caribou would certainly want to avenge his father. When Caribou gets closer to Blackbeard and gains his trust, it will be easier for him to betray the Yonko.

Caribou could sell out Blackbeard to the World Government and settle the score. At the time, it is only speculation, but as the story progresses further, it will be easier to understand if Caribou has any ties to Ochoko.

If Caribou doesn’t betray Blackbeard, the former will prove to be an invaluable addition to his side. Caribou has access to a lot of sensitive information that could help Blackbeard conquer the world. The Supernova already knows about Poseidon and Pluton, and if he shares this information with Blackbeard, the latter can claim them.
