Devil Fruits are the primary power system of the One Piece world, and they’re also the most interesting aspect of the series that Oda has established. Fans have known about Devil Fruits since the very beginning of the series, but they remain a huge mystery in part to this day. One thing fans know, however, is that Devil Fruits don’t reach their full potential until they’re awakened.
Not all Devil Fruits are equal, however, some have overpowered awakenings in store. The most powerful Devil Fruit awakenings in the series would definitely be of Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, Blackbeard’s Yami Yami no Mi, and Imu’s mysterious and demonic Devil Fruit that fans are yet to fully unravel in One Piece.
The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika Has An Overpowered Devil Fruit Awakening

Luffy’s Devil Fruit was known as the Gomu Gomu no Mi for the longest time, but shockingly, this was all a cover-up. His Devil Fruit wasn’t a Paramecia rubber Devil Fruit, but instead, a godly Devil Fruit known as the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. This Devil Fruit, as the name implies, allows one to become the Sun God Nika, but only when awakened. Luffy finally awakened his Devil Fruit in Wano against Kaido and accessed Gear 5. The awakened Nika Devil Fruit allows one to use their imagination as a weapon, with boundless abilities. It goes without saying that this awakening is one of One Piece’s strongest, and even the Gorosei couldn’t do much against him in Egghead.

The Yami Yami no Mi is a Devil Fruit in the possession of Yonko Blackbeard. This Devil Fruit is undoubtedly the most overpowered Logia fruit around, and it grants its user the most useful ability when it comes to fighting Devil Fruit users, and that is the power to cancel other Devil Fruit powers.
Blackbeard has yet to awaken his Devil Fruit, but when he does, he will be able to cover all his surroundings in darkness and take away Devil Fruit powers without touching anyone. This would be one of the most overpowered abilities seen in the series.
Imu’s Devil Fruit Is Already Broken
An Unknown Devil Fruit That Must Have An Insane Awakening
Imu is the secret sovereign of the One Piece world and remains a huge mystery, even now, 28 years after the beginning of the manga. One thing fans know, however, is that Imu is powerful, with an insane Devil Fruit. What this Devil Fruit is, is yet to be fully revealed, but it’s likely a Mythical Zoan Demon fruit that has already been awakened. Imu’s Devil Fruit awakening probably features some insane transformation if it is a Zoan, even more fearsome than Gear 5, that Oda has yet to fully show. What Imu is showcasing in Elbaf will only be a fraction of the real power the Devil Fruit grants him.
One Piece Chapter 1159 will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12 AM JST on Monday.
