The One Piece manga is currently focused on the God Valley Incident. For years, the event has been hyped up as the most significant in the history of One Piece, and now, Oda is finally disclosing all the major details tied to it.
In One Piece Chapter 1160, the God Valley Incident finally started. The Rocks Pirates made landfall on the island and immediately began to look for Shakky so that they could rescue her. Towards the end of the chapter, fans got a glimpse of Garp’s strength.
Prime Garp Was As Strong Gol D. Roger
Monkey D. Garp Is The Greatest Marine Of All Time
Prime Garp was equal to Roger
Garp’s Haki was extremely strong
In the chapter, the pirates seemed to have the edge over the Holy Knights and the Marines. The pirates were able to push back their enemies without any problems whatsoever. The Marines were demoralized because they knew that victory was impossible. However, they immediately got their hopes up after seeing Monkey D. Garp.
In Chapter 1160, Garp was seen throwing a cannonball towards the pirates, which resulted in a massive explosion, and it caught the attention of Davy D. Xebec and Gol D. Roger. Up until that point, both pirates were solely focused on their respective goals. But they looked stressed by Garp’s arrival.
Coming to Garp’s strength, it’s quite obvious that he was one of the strongest characters in the story. In fact, it has been confirmed that he was equal to Roger. At the time of the God Valley Incident, Garp had already cemented himself as the strongest Marine, which means he must have fought the most notorious pirates of the era.
Here I am, baby. —Monkey D. Garp
Garp didn’t have a Devil Fruit, but he didn’t let that stop him from becoming a hero. He underwent rigorous training that improved his physical abilities significantly. It also had a positive impact on the Vice Admiral’s Haki, which was the biggest weapon in his arsenal. The combination of Haki and physical strength made Garp a force to be reckoned with.
Fans saw how an older version of Garp put Kuzan through the wringer in Hachinosu. So it’s safe to say that Prime Garp was much stronger, and he would have ended the fight in seconds. One thing that Oda needs to clarify is whether Garp teamed up with Roger to fight Xebec or whether it was a lie spread by the World Government to hide the pirate’s involvement.
Garp’s Fate Will Be Revealed In The Final Saga
Garp Was Captured By The Blackbeard Pirates
After Blackbeard kidnapped Koby from Amazon Lily, Garp decided to form a team to rescue his protégé. The Vice Admiral took some young Marines with him to Hachinosu, which clearly seemed like a bad idea. However, Garp proved everyone wrong when he displayed his immense. Garp caused widespread damage with just a few punches, yet he was disappointed by the outcome.
The Vice Admiral knew that the damage output would have been a lot higher. Despite not being in his prime, Garp would still have won if he didn’t have to put his body on the line to stop Shiryu’s attack from making contact with Koby. This was a decisive moment, and it turned the tide of the battle. Eventually, Garp was beaten and imprisoned by the Blackbeard Pirates, while the rest of the Marines escaped.
Blackbeard took Koby captive because he wanted to strike a deal with the World Government. The young Marine was an important bargaining chip, and Blackbeard would have been furious if he had escaped, but there was always a chance that the World Government would have declined Blackbeard’s offer if Koby was the hostage.
But now he has an even bigger fish in Garp, who is the Hero of the Marines. The Yonko has gotten ahold of the most legendary Marine, and if the World Government forsakes him, it will send waves across the world. It will be interesting to see what happens to Garp and whether he survives or not. Hopefully, Oda gives the readers clarity on the situation in the upcoming arcs.
