With over 1100 episodes, One Piece is one of the longest-running anime series of all time. Oda has filled the vastness of the series with a plethora of characters. Unlike most manga authors, Oda doesn’t just forget about the characters. In fact, he has a habit of using them at the right time.
Many characters who appeared in the earlier arcs have already made their return in the Final Saga of One Piece. While not all of them will have a significant impact on the story, some will certainly be involved in the action.
Rocks D. Xebec finally made his appearance, but only in a flashback, so he has been exempted from the list.
Scopper Gaban’s first appearance in the story was in Chapter 0. As a member of the Roger Pirates, he is considered a living legend and heavily sought after by the Marines and possibly even pirates (he went to Laugh Tale and saw the One Piece). However, Gaban didn’t return to the current timeline until the Elbaf arc.
Scopper Gaban was living in Elbaf along with his wife and child, both of whom belonged to the Giant race. So far, Gaban has been highly influential in the Elbaf arc. He single-handedly defeated Sommers, one of the Holy Knights, and would have beaten Gunko as well if it weren’t for old age. Currently, Gaban is receiving care at the hands of Chopper in the Underworld, but it’s likely that he will join the fray soon.
Gin and Don Krieg are two antagonists who featured heavily in the Baratie arc. Krieg’s plan was to take over Baratie, and he would likely have done it if the Straw Hats had not been present. Krieg was humiliated by Luffy and was left in a pile of blood. Gin wasn’t as big a villain as Krieg, but nonetheless, he did share Baratie’s location with his captain.
After the crew was beaten, Krieg and Gin remained far away from the story. It wasn’t until the Egghead arc that they appeared in the story. Both Krieg and Gin could be seen on Hachinosu listening to the transmission of Dr. Vegapunk. Their appearance was rather limited, and it’s likely that the two won’t be seen again for a very long time. But if Oda decides to utilize them, they could possibly end up as Blackbeard’s underlings.
Caribou is a strong pirate who shot to infamy when the Straw Hat Pirates were separated. Since the timeskip, he has appeared in almost every arc, although in very limited roles. However, it’s rather obvious that Oda has big plans for him.
In the Egghead arc, Caribou met Catarina Devon and Van Augur, two of the Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates. The young pirate beseeched them to take him to Blackbeard, who was his idol growing up. Catarina Devon and Van Augur were hesitant, but they talked to Teach about it. The Yonko was eager to listen to Caribou’s information, so he asked them to bring him along. It would be remiss not to mention that Caribou knows about the Ancient Weapons, and, by divulging the information to Blackbeard, he could alter the fate of the One Piece world.
Dorry and Brogy are the two captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates. Both were born in Elbaf but eventually set out to become pirates. Dorry and Brogy have the same level of power. They possess insane strength, with which they can decimate ginormous creatures with ease. Additionally, Dorry and Brogy can use Hakai, a combination technique that has enough power to destroy a ship as big as Victoria Punk with ease.
While Dorry and Brogy don’t have Devil Fruits, their immense physical abilities more than make up for it. The two were heavily involved in the Egghead arc, where they rescued Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hats from the Five Elders. Needless to say, without Dorry and Brogy, the Straw Hats would not have survived the assault of the World Government.
Hajrudin made his debut in the Dressrosa arc, where he was competing in the tournament at Corrida Coliseum. The giant wanted to get his hands on the Mera Mera no Mi, which would have significantly bolstered his strength. Unfortunately, Hajrudin was outclassed by the other participants.
Fly away to the kingdom of the Gods! —Hajrudin
After a brief period of absence, Hajrudin made his return in the Elbaf arc. Since then, a lot of things about his life have been revealed. For starters, Hajrudin is the second prince of Elbaf and technically the heir to Harald’s throne after Loki. It has also been revealed that Hajrudin has a different mother, which is why he is lower in the pecking order. Considering his history, there’s no doubt that Hajrudin will play a crucial role in the Elbaf arc.
Charlotte Katakuri is the strongest Sweet Commander of the Big Mom Pirates. He can be considered the primary antagonist of the Whole Cake Island arc, as he was the main impediment to the Straw Hats’ escape. Luffy had to use a new form of Gear 4th to beat him. Following the arc’s conclusion, Katakuri wasn’t seen again until the Egghead arc.
He has a small cameo where he can be seen listening to Vegapunk’s broadcast. It’s unclear how Oda wants to use him, but the pirate will likely end up as the new captain of the Big Mom Pirates.
