PlayStation State of Play Could Be Coming Next Week
Description
A new rumor from a credible industry insider claims that a second PlayStation State of Play event could take place as early as next week. While the last true PlayStation State of Play event was held all the way back in June, there have been subsequent events focused solely on specific games. The most recent was earlier this month, where PlayStation dedicated an entire State of Play to 007: First Light, the upcoming James Bond game from Hitman developer IO Interactive.
News of a potential second State of Play event will be great news for PlayStation fans, as there are still tons of upcoming titles that the community is eager to see more from. Those who are looking forward to 007: First Light were treated to a massive deep-dive during the most recent State of Play, showcasing its cast of characters, story, gameplay, and more. But fans are still patiently waiting for more news on the highly anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games, as well as the next Naughty Dog game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and much more.
Another PlayStation State of Play Could Be On the Way
It may have only been a couple of weeks since the most recent PlayStation State of Play event, but it appears that Sony could be gearing up for another event as soon as next week. According to NateTheHate (spotted by Insider Gaming), who has a proven track record, another State of Play event will take place next week. While the insider didn’t specify an exact date, State of Plays are often announced at the beginning of the week and held on either Wednesday or Thursday, but this is merely speculation for the time being.
This rumor seemingly corroborates a previous report from Insider Gaming from earlier this month, which claimed Marvel’s Wolverine will appear at a new State of Play by the end of the month. The highly anticipated superhero title hasn’t been shown since a State of Play in 2021, which puts it at the top of fans’ wishlist for the game they’d most like to see appear at a new event. Although PlayStation only held a State of Play event earlier this month, it isn’t unheard of for the studio to host two events in the same month. With two reliable sources now claiming as much, it appears that an announcement could be just days away.
Nothing has been officially announced as of writing, but if there is to be another State of Play in September, it’s unlikely that it will be dedicated entirely to Marvel’s Wolverine. Fans are also eager to see more from Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Bungie’s Marathon, and more. Recent rumors also suggest Insomniac is quietly working on a new Venom game for the PlayStation 5, which will likely be similar in scope to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
