Pokemon GO has announced GO Fest 2025: Max Finale, an upcoming two-day event scheduled for late August. Pokemon GO‘s ongoing Delightful Days season has been packed with major events, including the recent GO Fest: Global with Zacian and Zamazenta.
Players all around the world were recently able to enjoy GO Fest: Global, a celebration that debuted Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta. The event also gave players some limited Pokemon GO reward codes as well as new Adventure Effects for Raids and Max Battles. With GO Fest: Global behind, the yearly celebration had supposedly come to an end. However, in a surprise move, Pokemon GO has confirmed that one final major GO Fest event is on its way.
Here’s everything you need to know about the featured Pokemon for Pokemon GO’s Spotlight events in July 2025.
Through a brief trailer, Pokemon GO has confirmed Pokemon GO Fest: Max Finale for Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24. “Prepare while you can, because the countdown to something BIG is starting,” reads an official statement on Pokemon GO‘s website. The video showcases Zacian and Zamazenta in their Crowned forms, seemingly preparing for battle after clear skies have turned into dark clouds. There’s also a shot of a glowing portal piercing the storm from above. Players have reacted positively to the trailer, with many speculating that it might hint at the Gen 8 Legendary Pokemon Eternatus finally debuting in-game, potentially in its Eternamax form.
Pokemon GO Reveals GO Fest: Max Finale Event for August 2025
Eternatus is a Legendary Poison/Dragon-type Pokemon that was first introduced in Pokemon Sword and Shield. In combat, it also turns into Eternamax, a unique transformation similar to Dynamax and Gigantamax. In the climax of Sword and Shield, players can defeat and catch the gigantic Eternatus with the help of Zacian and Zamazenta. However, its Eternamax form is unobtainable. Regardless, Eternatus is a fan-favorite Pokemon that stands out for its imposing design. The Legendary is currently unavailable in Pokemon GO, but since the debut of Max Battles in 2024, fans have been hoping that Eternatus’ release would eventually happen.
If Eternatus makes the jump to Pokemon GO, it would be interesting to see how the game approaches its Eternamax form and whether it could be obtainable or not. However, fans will have to wait for more official details about Pokemon GO Fest: Max Finale in the coming weeks. In the meantime, fans can look forward to Pokemon GO‘s 9th Anniversary Party starting on July 1. The event will feature multiple costumed Pokemon, the debut of shiny Gimmighoul, and Friendship bonuses.
