Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players took to social media to warn of a potentially hacked Tera Raid that would allow trainers to catch Shiny Wo-Chien earlier than intended. Shiny Wo-Chien is currently considered unobtainable in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet unless certain conditions are met during the ongoing Shiny Treasures of Ruin Tera Raid event.
Known as the Ruinous Pokemon, Wo-Chien is part of a Legendary quartet called the Treasures of Ruin. Wo-Chien is a Dark and Grass dual-type monster with an appearance reminiscent of a snail covered in leaves. During the July 22 episode of Pokemon Presents, the Shiny Treasures of Ruin Tera Raid series was announced for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, starting with Wo-Chien as the first offering. Unlike previous Tera raid events, the Shiny Treasures of Ruin come with a major asterisk, as they cannot normally be caught until each has been collectively defeated at least one million times. The Shiny Treasures of Ruin will be distributed via Mystery Gift once each goal is met.

July 2025 Nintendo Direct Leaked for Next Week
Days after the Pokemon Presents broadcast, a known industry leaker claims that a highly anticipated Nintendo Direct will still air in late July.
Following the reveal of the Shiny Treasures of Ruin Tera Raid event, some Pokemon trainers sounded the alarm after one of them caught a Shiny Wo-Chien ahead of its potential distribution window. On the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet subreddit, a Reddit user named ZealousidealClock528 filed a bug report that stated they were able to catch Shiny Wo-Chien after defeating it in a Tera Raid battle, which is not intended to happen during the current event. The OP stated they joined a Shiny Wo-Chien Raid via the Poke Portal’s Tera Raid finder menu, which allows trainers to join raids hosted by someone else. It is not clear what methods the host of the Shiny Wo-Chien Tera Raid in question used that allowed it to be captured by other players.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Players Report Hacked Shiny Wo-Chien Tera Raids
The news caught the attention of popular Nintendo content creator Austin John Plays. He added that while Shiny Wo-Chien could be transferred to Pokemon Home after being caught in a hacked Tera Raid, it was not advisable since The Pokemon Company reserves the right to delete the save data of any user found violating the terms of service. Austin John noted that the alleged hacker hosting the Shiny Wo-Chien Tera Raid would have an egg icon next to their name instead of a Pokemon, and advised Pokemon trainers to steer clear of any suspicious Tera Raids.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can use strong Fire types like Iron Moth or Incineroar to counter Shiny Wo-Chien and add to the collective goal of one million victories. It remains to be seen what The Pokemon Company will do in response to this situation.
