Rumors about Mega Evolutions coming to Pokemon TCG Pocket began circulating weeks before the release of the current A4 set. Even earlier, some fans noticed that the Pokedex filters include an HP category for Pokemon with 300 Health Points, which was taken as the initial hint at Mega Evolutions, as these critters are known for their sturdiness.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Confirms Mega Evolutions

During the 2025 Pokemon World Championships closing ceremony, a short teaser for Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s upcoming Mega Evolutions exposed more than just the cards’ titles. For one, it showed that defeating these powerful creatures would reward the player with three points, effectively ending the game on the spot. It also indirectly confirmed three regular cards – Swablu, Torchic, and Combusken – that are essential for Altaria and Blaziken’s evolution.

A few other trends can also be observed in the trailer that might indicate how other Mega Evolution EX cards will function. Two of the three showcased cards require only two Energy points, making their attacks very cost effective. This could become a pattern among other Mega-evolved Pokemon to balance the risk of playing them. It’s also clear that these sturdy Pokemon will have attacks with the word “Mega” in them, such as Mega Blaster and Mega Burning.
