Pokemon TCG Pocket S-Tier Deck Fulfills Eevee Grove’s Power Fantasy, But with an Asterisk Attached
Description
There are many entirely new or modified decks running around in Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s current meta, and it’s clear that Eevee Grove marked a massive shift in what is good to play and which decks are the best overall. For example, a deck with just copies of Incineroar Ex and its pre-evolutions for Pokemon cards was borderline unthinkable when Celestial Guardians came out, and yet, Incineroar Ex with Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Hau Supporter card is not a very good meta deck. Some decks remained mostly the same, such as Darktina and Solgaleo Ex/Shiinotic, but one of the best decks in the game, if not the single best, uses a lot of new cards and fulfills Eevee Grove’s ultimate fantasy.
When Eevee Grove was first announced, fans of the game expected a set dedicated mostly to Eevee and its evolutions, especially seeing all the cards revealed in the trailer, but this was not exactly what the expansion ended up offering. There are only two new Eeveelution Ex cards in the set in the form of Flareon Ex and Sylveon Ex, but they are both sitting at the very top of the meta. One S-tier Pokemon TCG Pocket deck in the current meta ambitiously bundles Eevee, Eevee Ex, Flareon Ex, Sylveon Ex, Leafeon Ex, and Leafeon in one single package, and it’s OP to boot.

One Pokemon TCG Pocket Eevee Grove Card is Already Out of the Meta
Pokemon TCG Pocket’s new Eevee Grove expansion is about to add one card that is dead on arrival in the current meta.
The deck focuses on Eevee and its evolutions as the only Pokemon cards in it, and while it may seem wonky at first, it works like a charm. The list typically includes:
- 2x Eevee (Eevee Grove)
- 2x Eevee Ex (Eevee Grove)
- 2x Leafeon Ex (Triumphant Light)
- 1x or 2x Leafeon (Space-Time Smackdown)
- 0x or 1x Flareon (Eevee Grove)
- 2x Flareon Ex (Eevee Grove)
- 1x Sylveon Ex (Eevee Grove)
- 2x Professor’s Research (Launch promo)
- 2x Poke Ball (Launch promo)
- 1x Pokemon Communication (Space-Time Smackdown)
- 0x or 1x Giant Cape (Space-Time Smackdown)
- 1x Red (Space-Time Smackdown)
- 1x Mars (Space-Time Smackdown)
- 2x Eevee Bag (Eevee Grove)
This is a perfect counter to powerful meta decks like Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Darktina or Buzzwole Ex, and it has a fantastic matchup against Solgaleo Ex/Shiinotic as well. The core strategy is to try and get a Leafeon Ex online as fast as possible, generating its own Grass Energy because the deck only runs Fire Energy, and then attacking with it or setting up the non-Ex version of Leafeon, all while building Flareon Ex on the bench.
Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Sylveon Ex is OP in this deck and most others because it helps a lot with card draw, even if it’s just one copy of the card being used. It acts as an extra Professor’s Research, which is one of the strongest cards in the game. Eevee Bag is a flexible card for dealing more damage or healing, so it pairs perfectly with the deck due to Flareon Ex’s Combustion ability and high damage potential.
How Pokemon TCG Pocket Fails to Deliver a Perfect Eevee-Themed Deck
This deck is extremely powerful, and it’s being consistently used in Master Ball Rank in Pokemon TCG Pocket, but it does have some issues. These are:
- The deck is very dependent on getting a Leafeon Ex in the active spot as soon as possible to make it generate Grass Energy for itself and possibly non-Ex Leafeon, and that’s because the deck only uses Fire Energy.
- Sylveon Ex can’t attack because it needs Psychic Energy, so it’s only used to draw cards.
- One can’t play all its 6-to-8 Eeveelution cards in a single match because the deck is limited to two Eevee cards and two Eevee Ex cards, so only up to four Eeveelutions may be played.
These are minor setbacks considering how reliable the deck is, though. Several issues would have been resolved with a multi-Energy card in Pokemon TCG Pocket, but for now, it remains missing. It’s not a perfect Eeveelution-themed deck, but in terms of gameplay, it’s indeed S-tier.
