Silk Skills in Hollow Knight: Silksong are abilities that help Hornet fight enemies at the cost of her Silk. The very first one that players will get is the Silkspear, which is required to set the Bell Beast free. Afterward, the other Silk Skills can be discovered through exploration. To get the Rune Rage skill in Silksong, players must beat the First Sinner in The Slab. Rune Rage is a Silk Skill in Silksong that causes multiple runes to appear randomly on the screen, which will explode after a brief delay. This ability is great against enemies who scatter all around, but due to the randomness of its deployment, it may not be the most accurate skill to cast in certain situations.
Just like other Silk Skills, players must press the F button (PC) or R1 (PS) or RB (Xbox) to use it. Of course, Rune Rage can be paired with other Silk Skills when Hornet chooses the Shaman Crest in Silksong.
To reach the First Sinner, Hornet must first find the Key of Apostate in Silksong. Afterward, head to The Slab’s Bellway, go up to the room above it, then find a lock that requires the key; open it.

The text immediately hints that inside is a first sinner who’s locked as punishment for their wrongdoings. Of course, like other games, it’s only right that players indulge their curiosity and break the locks to set a tightly locked prisoner free.
As a reward for releasing the First Sinner, Hornet must face a tough boss fight. There are plenty of rooms to hit the boss, but the enemy is also quick and has fast attacks, making it tough to dodge at times.
Once the First Sinner is defeated, Hornet will get the prompt to Accept. Don’t worry if you’re scared about accepting, as doing so will reward Hornet with the Rune Rage Silk Skill, which is the same ability that the First Sinner performs in the boss fight.
